New people to Otsuka, what are your thoughts?

    I'm struggling with the culture. The Job is fulfilling and indeed very account based. However, I don't understand the micromanaging and "into the weeds" mindset. Managers treat their reps like it's 2002 and let's micromanage the shit out of them until reps eventually leave for JJ/Alkermes. I just don't get it. AM has the potential to really compete and own more than 25% of SOM but yet we settle for just 20%. If Otsuka would just think big picture, we can can easily turn some stones and gain 1, 2, 3, and maybe 5 share points.

    Is it the Japanese culture and way doing things? Is it really time to go?

    You ain't seen nothing yet, as the phrase goes. We have a horrible to nothing pipeline. Rexulti is just another me too, and AM has hit it's peak. Can't think of a single rep I know that is not looking to leave. Your micromanaging has just begun. It's worse than any primary care i have ever seen. I strongly suggest you start looking today!

    Weird vibe here. I am also new and I keep hearing about 'culture'. I think it's one of those things where the more you say something, you somehow make it real. My last company had a decent culture but it comes from the top. I have no idea who runs this company. My manager is a nice guy and the regional is weird but ok. Seems like they are more worried about call activity and spending than they are sales.

    The only culture is a primary care mentality. We have no pipeline. AM and Rexulti are perfect examples of what’s wrong with the industry, me toos. Everyone wants to leave. We are just like Lundbeck. Perfect partners swirling down the drain.

    You hit the nail on the head. Im with Lundbeck and atleast you are not being pulled by two partners like a puppet that cant stand on its own two feet. Its worse at Lundbeck. We are controlled by our partners and that is what killed our culture and morals! Be thankful you dont work there!

    When a company TALKS about culture, you know they are trying to create the illusion it has one that’s memorable and special. Smoke and mirrors.

    This place is a shithole. My manager is an asshole. There is no future here selling a POS atypical.

    Exactly - they have been talking about it for years led by the innovative hr team lol they even have someone solely focused on it yet it still sucks - oh wait its HR what do you expect? :rolleyes: Japan take note and clean out that cesspool.

    REALLY? Japan doesn't have a clue why do you think home office operates like it does. They spend money lots of money on projects they never even roll out - I have seen it many times in my tenure at OAPI.....no one watching the bank! Japan really should take interest.

    Talk about they have someone solely focused on it and it is still a mess. Oh wait what do you expect this is Otsuka innovation at its finest.

    No different at Janssen, Alkermes is a dumpster fire and I hear the same about Otsuka.

    Management overthinks everything that doesn't matter and under-thinks things that could really help the reps.
    DMs are a joke, Regionals don't give a shit, and the docs/aprns are too stupid to use
    injectables more often. Access sucks too. Been in mental health 9+ years. I'm ready for a change.

    Ha - please don't blame it on the Japanese culture its the idiots that work here and the weak "leadership" team...that is what is dragging this company down year over year. Spend a day in the home office and you will quickly see whats wrong with this place! Sad been here for years keeps getting worse - they need to clean house.
