Reality behind Pfizer's attack on its own People

Over the last 15 years, Pfizer has actively minimized it's long-term costs by directly laying off tens of thousands of employees and also "encouraging" the departure of tens of thousands more. At the start of this mess, those in "protected groups" (an actual legal term) technically included employees over 40, but the white males had very little chance of successful age discrimination claims unless they were over 50 (and no chance for promotion) when they were pressured out. Hence, Pfizer was hesitant to target for removal those employees over fifty, in general, as those law suits would have made getting rid of those employees very expensive. Thus, we now have a much older sales force (average age is 51), with a smattering of contract reps and some very young reps that make very little and have virtually no impact on long-term costs (no pension for you!). So, those that were older back then are now retiring employees who are reaching that coveted goal, but it is indeed a shrinking group.

As a former senior manager, I can assure you that this is all true and accurate. Merck's demise began with the CIA and was accelerated with the greatest series of R&D failures in pharmaceutical history. In short, Pfizer is where it is by its own accord. It's sad that more than half of the company's employees have been separated since then, with only a fraction having been replaced at a much smaller cost to the company, all because this company was so horribly managed.

As others have indicated, it is truly tragic that Pfizers "leadership" has profited mightily since this all began. The billions of dollars (literally) paid to those executives who conceived and implemented the plan to sever the financial ---and often mental---health of our own fellow employees could have been used to soften the blow to those former employees and their families considerably. Instead, Pfizer's "leaders" have quietly enriched themselves while destroying countless lives with reckless abandon. It is truly shameful.

The anonymous nature of this forum affords me the opportunity to share this with you. Most of us with legal exposure to sharing information like this simply take their cash and drift away. I simply can't fail to acknowledge that thousands of very good people were made to look guilty as they were dismissed or, more often, pressured to quit by very underhanded means. It is a disgraceful organization.

Thank you for your courage to expose the pure greed of this pile of crap called Pfizer. I could tell you stories that you would find hard to believe about the immoral, unethical, illegal actions that were perpetrated on people too intimidated
or downright scared to fight back. Many lives were and continue to be ruined by their devious treatment of people.,
You’re much too kind, classy, and professional with your words. Pfizer is a despicable excuse for a company. Pfizer is the bleeding hemorrhoid in the ass of Pharma. The biggest turd floating in the sewer.....

You’ll get yours, so don’t be too cocky and complacent. When they want you gone, you will be, regardless of your “ protected” status.

No domestic partner benefits. That should be enough evidence.

A liberal company would provide that. Pfizer does not

No, it proves Pfizer isn’t buying all the bs; it’s the leftists who want everything for everybody, not the majority of libs.

Yep, all the white men in upper level leadership positions at Pfizer and across the pharma/medical industry are a bunch of leftists. If you’re a white male and can’t make it above the rep level, something is wrong with you.

I am not joking. I was born outside Brazzaville, in Inzouli, across the river from Kinshasa. I can assure you, the worst place in the US has more opportunities. Nevertheless, we value family and education and we don't cry that the 260 years of British colonialism ruined us today. Sure, there are residual effects but at the end of the day, the rest of the world doesn't care about paying for past crimes, they care about what I do today, this hour. We work. We organize. We save. We don't spend on flash while our kids suffer.

    I am not joking.

Getting back to the original post: It would seem now that PFE has added $500m to the pension (thanks to the change in overseas money parking tax) AND the new policy of letting any colleague access their full pension upon separation (instead of full rule of 90), I'm guess there will be no more "protected" classes based on age for future "right sizings".

Not full pension before 65. That hasn't changed. Only now able to take lump sum if quit pfizer before 55.

For you hysterical leftards, pfizer allows domestic partners to be beneficiaries to our pensions.

And yes, the white men and women at the top of Pfizer are a vast majority of liibtards/leftards and have sanctioned unfair and discriminatory promotion practices within Pfizer. Of course you leftards are fine with it because it benefits you immensely. However, it is the exact same evil you claim to abhor, I.e. discrimination not based upon merit, racism, sexism, and bigotry.

"Can't be a leftard without being a perfect hypocrite"
