Todd is anything but an idiot. As many have said here I have similar experiences working with big company VPs and he is superb at what he does. A serious improvement over the leadership of the past who shall remain nameless.

I have an interview for an associate salesperson. What type of questions do they ask? Also, are the sales goals attainable? What is the auto reimbursement? Commissions?

Can anyone provide any update on culture at this company? What are sales targets like? Management? Fellow reps?
Where do the products sit in relation to the competitors? if anyone can provide any real information, it would be appreciated.

What is this division like? With not meeting the primary endpoints in the trial, how difficult is this job going to be? Thank you for professional responses.

Merit's biggest problem is Fred (ceo). He convinces the board to buy products/ companies and then does not know how to grow them. They are thrown in a rep's bag whether it makes sense or not. Justin is a whole other issue, but I dont blame him for trying to wear his father's suit. Again, that falls on the CEO and board.

I really do like many of the people at Merit (sales and marketing) and I always feel a bit bad for them having to deal with the rampant nepotism that exists there. On the GI side of the business it is laughable to see the VP of Sales, Barton, graduate from college, work in marketing for a few years, and then be named VP. Never having sold anything in his career and never having managed salespeople. Justin's story is nearly as underwhelming...

Fred has his flaws as we all do BUT, I've really enjoyed working with him and he's built a good business with a very good team. These opinions are pretty sad and obviously written by some pretty sad people.

    I feel bad for you.

Bottom line. No, Justin isn’t qualified to be the next CEO of Merit on paper, but he will be and soon. Merit was built by Fred and he deserves to call the shots. It’s his company and legacy. Do people actually think Fred (or anyone) would spend 30 years building a company and not leave it to his son? All of these haters should be thankful they have a job and quit complaining. Pathetic.

Wasn’t Todd a National Sales Manager before becoming a Senior Vice President? Not sure how he made that leap. Weird.

Whatever Justin’s role is, I am sure he’ll do just fine. The organization has largely been built by him over the last 10 plus years anyways and successfully so. I am really anything but worried.

  15. Complete blasphemy. Fred's son is more than qualified to be CEO. On what basis do I state this, you may ask?

I've worked around him for years. I would challenge any person on here to lay claim to actually working alongside him rather than being a casual or disgruntled observer.

I’ve worked for probably a dozen execs over my career and have to agree. Justin does a fine job. Some of the guys that are a layer or two down may need a little tweaking.

The organization has not been largely built by Justin over the last 10 years, he was working in Europe for Merit through 2015 when Fred brought him back to the US. He has only been working with the US sales organization for 4-5 years

US sales force is a disgruntled mess. Bonuses never paid because of unrealistic sales quotas and the company keeps buying new products adding to the problem. Not sure who’s fault this is but it’s a mess.
