Can anyone provide ballpark salary expectations for a CV Specialty position with 15 years experience?

I don’t get it... why would a CV rep selling a pill (not a pace maker or other type of med equipment) need to wear scrubs while on the job? Makes no sense! Please explain!

Once upon a time, many years ago, one of the AZ marketing cretins came up with the hair-brained idea that AZ reps should strive to become part of the medical team. Their idea of being part of the "team" was that the AZ reps would collaborate with the physician in determining what medication the patient should be prescribed. (Never mind that most physicians think pharma reps are basic morons let alone let them into the inner circle to assist them in determining prescribing patterns.) In order to harden the "image", AZ went out and purchased scrubs for the reps, primarily for the Brilinta reps who were selling a platelet inhibitor where the first notion of prescribing an anti-platelet agent occurred with the interventional cardiologist who placed the stent(s) in the cath lab. The AZ morons figured if the stent reps could put on scrubs and get into the lab and push their stents then why wouldn't the same hold true for the reps that were selling Brilinta? Any AZ rep that is still wearing their stupid looking scrubs has basically lost all self respect. You will never be considered part of the "team". The only image you have is of someone who brings in lunch and feeds the masses. You are a caterer, nothing more, nothing less.

The above post is 100% on the money. Pharma reps are not respected by the medical community. At one time pharma was a respected profession and the majority of doctors saw reps. Not anymore,....how can you be considered a professional when you bring food in the office? Do you ask financial advice from the domino delivery person? I think not. Pharma sales is now a mindless job...pays great and lots of freedom...and if you're willing to put up with this mindless shit and micromanagement have fun. I laugh like hell when some reps say they are helping patients. YOU ARE NOT HELPING ANY PATIENTS!!!!

This is largely a false statement. If a rep has access to the cath lab or the unit patients are discharged from, most hospitals require the rep to wear scrubs. For the office based reps I’d agree with you.

There is nothing false about it. Why would any interventionist allow a drug rep into the operative field during a procedure? A stent rep, yes....as they may have something to contribute..... but a drug rep....nonsense. A drug rep contributes absolutely nothing to a surgical procedure. The drug reps extent of access to the cath lab, if any at all, is the anteroom where no scrubs are required.

I have 2 hospitals that not only require scrubs, I have to change into theirs upon entering the facility. So you’re wrong. And yes I have access to the control room in my accounts. The lab is where brilinta is initiated. Why wouldn’t they want us there.

Why are we talking about scrubs, lets talk about the sales. I remember 1 quarter where you guys didn't even sell 1 unit. Many reps are unprofessional and don't have a real clue about A/P and could care less about the patient, they only care about social media and portraying the "all day lie"...

We are talking about scrubs because the topic is the stupidity at AZ. Another valid subject of stupidity is sales. That's always been stupid.

It is all about optics. Imagine being a patient going in for a procedure and you see a drug rep in a suit. Wouldn’t you wonder why they are there? It is a patient area. Now someone dressed in scrubs is less awkward for a patient to see. Just try to be considerate of the environement. That’s all. Wearing scrubs in the field is another story. Embarrassing to go into an office in scrubs. No need for that.

So what you are saying that wearing scrubs is really a disguise. You need to disguise yourself to be in a place where you have no business being and are just there to take up space and watch a procedure in hopes of getting an interventionist to prescribe your drug. Any interventionist who allows that sort of nonsense should be run out on a rail. Can't see how that contributes to patient care in any way shape manner or form. Ridiculous.

If you want to be considerate of the patient then stay the fuck away while they are undergoing their medical care. How would you like some dumb fuck drug rep watching you having a heart procedure? Of course they would wonder why the hell you are there.

Well...let’s see...because you are selling a pill! A pill in which patients swallow. And a pill these docs are all too familiar with. Other legit cardio reps are up there because they are covering actual cases in which the docs are implanting their devices. (And they are laughing at you!)
