You definitely are a newbie. Straumann has invested in Megagen. They invested in rights to Pacific rim.

 

yes...and Straumann has invested into NeoDent and MegaGen....selling low priced implants to GP's,,,,which is fine....but has never been their go to market strategy. They (Straumann) are trying to compete with companies like Implant Direct and BioHorizons that are starting to take the market. THere is no reason to EVER pay $350-$400 for an implant...unless it's going to wash your car too.

 

CL is sending out SP to do his dirty work. Apparently They have started making clones of all the popular implants and CL wants them to push them over the Megagen product. It seem they are afraid they are going to lose the US rights of distribution. Park open your eyes. They are not meeting their commitments. Sell everything to Straumann or seek another partner Dentium and Hiossin are eating your lunch in this market. Dental dealers don't and can't sell implants. If I were a Megagen rep I would be looking. SP is all about SP. CL knows nothing about implants go back to selling cotton rolls.

 

Got a call from a recruiter saying Megagen is paying 80k base! My base isn't that high but my total comp is over 100 so I'm not interested but still surprised they start that high. They are sold through distribution too (Parkway Dental in Philly).

 

Former rep for IDS / Megagen. I must say that the AnyRidge is a good implant and Megagen makes good products across the board. The problem is the US upper mgmt. They’re unorganized and blame the reps when #’s aren’t being reached. Reps are in constant fear of losing their jobs which doesn’t help with production. Over the last year I would say there has been about 50% turnover (20 reps total) and only one or two of those reps resigned while the rest have been terminated. Not a good place to work if you value job security.

 

The upper management at this company should be selling used cars rather than dental implants..

 

Hi Dr Brookshire. I agree with you that Megagen dr’s are definitely not bottoms feeders. I like their systems a lot but they haven’t been marketed correctly in the states. The problem is the upper mgmt team in the USA. They lack focus, discipline and accountability. When #’s aren’t being reached they don’t look at themselves but rather the reps as the problem and don’t hesitate to let them go. It’s a bad environment to be in.
