You may be correct, but we’ve had so many reps leave already that I can’t see another significant layoff on the horizon. It seems to me that any major firings happen just prior to the NSM, not in the last quarter of the fiscal year.

Good point - I agree about the timing of layoffs. I’ve lived through many iterations of buyouts, layoffs, reorgs in several industries, and just have that gut feeling that the company is seriously eyeballing changes. Honestly, we have some great reps, but the average distribution rep and what they do, regardless of company, isn’t worth what they get paid...

Are you inferring the Patterson reps going from $300,000 to $400,000 per year, down to $150,000 are still overpaid?

Well, maybe... I have no problem if a rep has legitimately grown a territory to $15-20 million and makes $250k. On the other hand, I have a big problem with a new college graduate with no sales experience getting handed a $10 million territory and pulling in $125k+. Happens all the time here.

True, but MWI reps are still the lowest paid in the industry. By far the worst commission structure.

you must be the RAM complaining to manufacture reps about not making any money since last Sept.

Lowest and getting lower every year. But if people keep resigning and they keep consolidating territories, the pay per rep will be definitely going up LOL.

I am actively looking to get out of the industry. I’m sick of the BS. This is no longer a fun job, and I’m too damn old to deal with the huge pile of corporate shit Amerisource is shoveling. It used to be enjoyable years ago, when small companies were predominant and people were treated actually like people, but change is inevitable. Sad... no more good ol’ days.

So if a “Patterson rep” is making 300-400k a year, what does their average rep make? Word is not long ago Midwest was hiring reps with a 150k a year guarantee.

No idea, but all distributor reps have been squeezed to the benefit of management and stock holders. They have probably taken a 25-30% pay cut like the rest of us. But I’d rather have a piece of a 25% pay cut making $400k than I would having than cut making $150k. Works out to be that they are still making at least $100k more than MWI reps

No shit... I’ll take that cut if I was making that kind of scratch. Considering similar industries - unless you’re on the human side in equipment, you’re not making that kind of money in sales. Pharma reps are prob lucky to make 100k...

I can GUARANTEE you no one at Midwest ever got a guarantee of $150K !!!

Changes are already happening. Heard an RM stepped down this week.

Thoughts regarding the webinar from earlier today?

Guarantee nobody will be making over $250k here. My buddy in biotech works 2 - 3 days a week and pulls 250k.

Cryptic webinar as usual. MS is quite the politician - makes everything sound all rosy right before the other shoe drops.

I think things are actually stabilizing at MWI, in spite of the obvious imperfections across the board.

Probably because MWI is making the decisions and not ABC and the guiding principles are pulling us through.

Looks like the big annual national sales meeting has been scrapped in favor of a 3 day conference and regional meetings. This is a welcome change, and probably the beginning of other cost-cutting. Hoping compensation isn’t next.
