A pharmaceutical rep died at the young age of 28. He went to heaven and met God. The rep asked God,
"Hey Bro, why was my time up?" God said dryly: "According to all the calls you reported, your age is closer to 95.

It is not that we have bad managers. I just find them absolutely worthless. In my 29 years as a rep, I have never had a manager who could help me talk to a doctor that refuses to see reps, or help me impact a clinic that has a no-see policy. The current salesforce model we have has absolutely no future, as clinics will be using more and more generics so that they can get insurance contracts. There is nothing a manager will change or impact.

During my field rides I always a challenge my manager: " Don't tell me how to do it, SHOW me how you want to have it done. Here is the bag, lead by example."

It is amazing what that does! Go try it!

    I know..
I remember Tom Brady asking Belichick to throw a 40 yard bomb while running away from two linebackers, and he couldn't do it! What an idiot.
Remember the time Dean Smith missed that wide open dunk when Jordan passed him the ball? Whoa!

Here's the deal, old timer. Your manager is not there to solve all of your problems. 'No see' means no see. Your manager is to help you improve where you can, not make miracles happen. They can show you how to sell in certain situations too. My manager is excellent and that is why she was promoted. You are probably not very good, you probably congregate with the other malcontents at the sales meetings to talk about the god ole days and bitch about the company and the industry while enjoying the perks and your bloated salary.

Take advantage of your coach's wisdom and skills. He/she will not wave a magic wand and access is rolled out to you. These offices are closed to everyone. I'm sure if your product was of interest, they would see you.

Nice try, DM!! I have won several national awards and President's Circles in my 29 years with other companies, was never on a PIP during all those years... So, if I was that bad, I would not have won these. Besides I am still here, nonperformers, especially older ones, don't last long here at Otsuka!!

But thanks for your input!! And during meetings, I really don't talk much to other reps. Due to the age difference, I do not have much in common with them!

Nice try Mr. DM!! FYI, during my career, I have won several national awards, President's club, Pinnacle, etc. with previous companies...

So...if I was that bad, I would not have won these. Besides, I have never been on a PIP... Nonperformers don't last long at this company, but anyways, thank you for your input.

As far as complaining to other reps...you are wrong here too, during meetings I stay to myself, as all other reps are significantly younger than I am, and I don't have anything in common with them.

But anyways, have a nice evening, and in the future, spare yourself your assumptions...

I suggest you go the website "peopleofwalmart.com". There are 2659 pages of young, good-looking, smart, hardworking go-getters. Those are people you can mold into winners. Just what you are looking for! My favorite is the person on page 19. Just awesome!!!

It might take you some time to browse through all the pages, but it is worth your time. Trust me. America's elite!!!

The woman with the i-phone on page 29 is an absolute hottie. She will be Trump's next press secretary, putting Sean Spicer and Sarah Huckabee to shame! Just look what she is wearing on her head!! Trump will love her!

The guy on page 56 with the Chevy is a consultant on "dress for success", "creativity". This guy is unreal!!

    It's all part of MAGA!

Billy Bones and his manager Bobby Beancounter decide to go to the movies instead of making calls. They sit next to each other in the cinema.

After a few minutes, Billy asks: "Did you rip one?"

    Bobby: "Yes"

    10 minutes go by

"Did you crap in your pants?"

    "Yes"

    20 minutes go by

Why don't you leave the cinema?

    10 minutes go by

    "I am not done yet"

Your post was neither funny, nor did it make sense.

We are, however, interested in your mother, specifically her "special abilities", which we believe are desirable and transferrable to management in our company. Would it be possible that she calls HR on Monday morning?

An organization is like a tree full of monkeys, all on different limbs at different levels. The monkeys on top look down and see a tree full of smiling faces. The monkeys on the bottom look up and see nothing but assholes.

(Military) Veteran here... Your comment was very condescending, arrogant and lecturing in style and tone. I have been in the industry for over 25 years and have survived 14 managers with different companies. Out of these 14, only one is still in the industry, the rest fell by the wayside, demoted, left industry...so please, do not snub us "old timers". 90% of all reps don't have the perseverance to last that long!!

Out of these 14, two were absolute nightmares. One of them ended up as a rep in another state and finished his career as a "Senior Representative" after many years. The other one got fired, because lunches he bought for the offices ended up on his dining room table! The rest of the managers were average, signed off on expense accounts, Ride Alongs, approved PTO, weekly conference calls, put people on PIP's, did their job,... the usual stuff...!

And then there was the exception: So this new manager and the RSD entered district meeting and the RSD introduced him. All eyes were on him. It only took one second to figure out that he had been in the military! Impeccable grooming, clothing, posture and demeanor. A lean, mean fighting machine! The female reps looked terrified, wondering what they would be in for!! After the RD introduced him, he said: "Obviously, we have some goals to accomplish, and I have certain expectations of each of you. But no matter what happens, if you work hard, you know your drugs, and you do all you can each and every day, I have your back covered. I am your advocate!" You could have heard a pin drop in the room!!

And I thought, "WOW", we will be getting along just fine. I can do what you are asking of me. With me being ex-military, we hit it off just great. We had lots of stories to tell from our time in the service.

2 years went by, our district was doing pretty well, except one territory. The RSD became inpatient, especially since this was the second rep in this territory who was not doing well! So the RSD wanted the Rep on a PIP. My manager (Frank) shared with me later what he told the RSD: "I have worked with the rep and he is rock solid. He is well organized, works hard, knows the data extremely well and asks for the business. So, there is no reason to put him on a PIP. I won't do it! If you want him on a PIP, you either have to find another manager or you have to do it yourself!"

Ultimately the RSD backed off. Fortunately, Frank was in a position of strength to stand up to the RSD.

I was absolutely taken back by the courage of this man. He had ballz bigger than coconuts. (I checked them out myself). But here was a LEADER I would go through the fire for!! This man had my absolute loyalty!! He is an RSD today in another region with another company, but we are still in contact. It is a shame there are not more of these fine people.

I have seen enough situations over my career, where managers have thrown reps under the bus to save their own skin. Or not stood up for a rep, when it would have been absolutely justified!! I have seen reps gotten fired for poor sales, only to be replaced by new reps, that equally failed... Are you going to fire them too?
