Why all the Weck haters? Is he really that much of a tool?

Tom has very few allies in the IT org and will be cut loose once the new CIO is in place.

Weck is a relic from the past and is not capable of leading a cutting edge IT org. He knows his time is running out -muse

Where is this 'cutting edge IT org'?

Exactly why good ole boyz like TW will be pushed out with the new CIO takes the helm

With TWs long, consistent track record of documented abusive conduct, why was he never terminated? Did his transgressions not meet the 'termination threshold'? Or, was he part of a protected category? Why did our management allow many good people to leave because of TWs behavior?

it is a great question, not only for TW but for many others. What do they have that makes them untouchable? This makes for a very dysfunctional environment because the staff is more worried about relationships with the untouchables rather than doing the right things and providing value to J&J. Is it protection of particular groups: military backgrounds, relationships from the past / Medco & CVS, diversity protection? In the case of gender, we have watched very qualified women pushed out but there has been a lot of really bad behavior in women tolerated (JC/finally gone, TD, JMS) for a long time before any action is taken. Hearing this is being addressed now but there were many instances escalated to upper mgt before that happened.

Lets get some technically qualified people into these roles who know how to treat people and then we will see the change we are looking for.

Weck must be shitting bricks now! Swanson wanted to fire his ass when he was at J&J before.

after 20+ years at JnJ (the only company he has ever been at in his career), TW is entrenched deeply - someone strong and new has to pry him out and exit him firmly - else TW will be haunting JnJ for another 8-12 years

Actually, TW was in the US Navy before J&J. That's where he developed his "people" skills... In any event, at ~55 yrs old and with the new CEO in place, his tenure at J&J will end by this time next year (or sooner). Bank on it!

Meant new CIO. For those who have were at J&J between 2000-2005 know that TW and JS were competitors (and there was a lot of bad blood between them)/. JS has an axe to grind and heads WILL roll.

Rest assured JS is fully aware of Tom's checkered past and will take the appropriate measures to ensure the image of the "new" IT organization is not tarnished by any unsavory characters from the past! Plus, he will strive to build a nimble and diverse LT. Betting the old white guy with a drill sergeant background will be cut loose!

Was that when Weck reported to Swanson?

Yes. Everyone who was here in IT since 2005 knows JS and TW mix like oil and water. Last time around, TW was up and coming, so he was safe. This time, the tables are turned and he will be one of the first to be axed! "Live by the sword, die by the sword"

Heard Weck is retiring to pursue his dream and will be starting a tennis camp for youths. Maybe that is something he will actually be good at?

Anyone go to Weck's farewell party. I for one skipped it!
