I left about a year ago

I left Alkermes about a year ago, not because I didn't believe in the company or the CEO etc. It was because there was a general sense of being completely oblivious to everything. From the top down to lower level managers people had no idea or played dumb to the politics and just pretty horrible decision making on pretty much any decision big or small. I was not in sales or the labs but to me it was obvious that FDA rejection was coming, so I wondered how did the people working on it not see it. Then to double down on it and kind of bad talk the FDA for making a mistake just seemed insane to me at the time. I remember that year we were constantly fed it being "a transformative year" but how could it have been? The writing was on the wall, and bad people were constantly being promoted which just infected any chance of it happening even more. It seemed like half the Waltham office was a director of some sort which makes any decision making impossible because they all want their say. The sense of denial was kind of amazing for a larger company.

Since I left I follow the stock daily and found this board. It doesn't sound very good but im hoping it turns around because I think most of the people are good and care about the patients etc. It just seems management royally screwed up with the people at the top and they don't know how to admit it so the same decision makers who created the mess dig the hole deeper every 3-4 months.

If you still work there is there a real sense of urgency up top yet or is the bubble just going to pop and take lower level people out with it?

I left last year. It was interesting - at that time, ALKS was hiring to double the useless R&D Organisation without any development projects and the projects were to be led by project directors from Medical Affairs - as CMO knows only medical affairs and have no development experience - pathetic state of affairs.

That was my experience, every time I walked by an interview room it had people in there. I found it weird that they were ramping up as we weren't doing very good. I thought that Pops kind of had a master plan and they'd recover like they did in the past. After seeing the stock and Jim Robinson etc. It seems I had too much faith. The acquisition seems kind of like a hail Mary to me. I feel bad for the people I used to work with, not sure if they can see what's coming if the top dogs continue with the message we got when we were there that outs a big misunderstanding and no one gets what we're doing yet. This board seems to be half truth, half things that they just wish they could say in real life but I think the cult like message and "kool aid" is pretty accurate, im my 3 years there at least. Kind of sad to see it bombing while the market is in a record upswing

I'm a field employee and I can honestly say that we have been astounded by the commercial team build out and the addition of FRM's, KAM's and hospital reps. We in the field are still scratching our heads on why they were hired and are even more astounded that they are all still here. Kind of like no one wants to admit that was a HUGE mistake so we just keep pouring money down the drain by keeping them all when they are not needed. Even they admit it. Just a very very odd company right now. Seems like they are trying to throw money down the toilet.

I quit just after the layoffs. I’d already been interviewing but wasn’t sure it was the right decision. The layoff kind of pushed me over the edge. I’ve been through layoffs before, but there’s usually a path forward after the fact.

Our path forward was developing the Rodin trash that nobody else wanted? Please.

Have no fear we have a robust pipeline. Just look at all the products we are coming out with. I'll list them for all you pathetic losers and Alkermes haters.

ALKS3832 - Asprin and Samidorphan; think they are going to call it "Asimda"
ALKS3833 - table salt and Samidorphan; calling that one "doesnothingaphan"
ALKS3834 - jello and Samidorphan; no name yet - maybe they can have an internal naming contest for it?
ALKS3835 - dog crap and Samidorphan; naming this on "basically every product ALKS has put forward since Vivitrol"
ALKS3831 = Olanzapine and Samidorphan; this one is being named "launch flopizole"

So next time you haters start hating, make sure you have all the facts!

Yeah I couldn't believe that new building is still being built. Who is going to work there?

Aristada is a copycat, but at least it works. Can’t say as much for anything containing sami.

This post is 100% correct. But all the useless staff you mentioned are the tip of the iceberg. There are also a ton of consultants we have to work with on useless projects and tracking graphs. What has the catch-phase of the last couple of years been...cross functional partnerships. I spend so much of my day "informing" others in the company about what I am doing that I have much less time to actually do my job. In that way these useless positions not only waste money, but they actually interfere with my work and make me less productive. But the minute you try to step back from these time wasting "cross functional partnerships" you get tagged as not being a team player. It is a sick cult-like atmosphere where speaking the truth is dangerous.

I noticed this as well. When I knew I was quitting, I pushed back on a lot and finally got answers from my superiors. More than half the time the answer was politics or that's the company line. Even when they admitted it was detrimental and pointless. It was never about doing what was logical or right for the department, just did whatever keep the facade going for the often out of touch higher ups.

I also agree with this post. The fact is, the people who got us in this mess are not the right people to get us out of this mess. They do not have it in them to say "I was completely wrong, and now we have to move in a different direction". That can only happen with new leadership. It may be too late already, but if it doesn't happen soon, there is no hope.

Amazingly accurate!! The FRM and KAM positions are useless! The KAM That covers my geography has no initiative of his own. He consistently asks me to set up appointments for him. What is the point of that. Do SOMETHING/ANYTHING yourself! You are NOT needed. And don’t get me started about how useless VM and her group of FRMs are. They waste time & resources. Way to go!!! HOW ARE THEY STILL HERE???????????

I'm putting my hope in ALKS3869 - Its for the treatment of sex addiction and its a combination of Samidorphan and salt peter. It's called "Imlimpaphan".

Yes...that drug has promise, but I like the chances of the new laxative we're developing. ALKS3886 - Its a hybrid of Samidorphan and ex lax. Its called "Ocrapapham".

My personal favorite drug in the pipeline is a treatment for the chronic disorder of denying the truth. Its a combination of Samidorphan and Sodium Pentothal. We call it "Dickpopsophan".
