Amgen is no longer the company that it used to be. It is a law firm that sells drugs that most patients can’t afford. Amgen values are just banners hanging sadly from the conference center to remind us all of a time this used to be a company that served patients and valued its employees. Most current managers don’t adhere by them and HR is there is jump in and protect unethical managers and unethical behavior to save the company from lawsuits. No point thinking back to the good old days.

Amgen diversity now includes hiring yes men/women from India with Visas. The top basically is filled with all white men. Indeed Amgen has become truly diverse.. LOL

Why are there so many unethical managers here?? It’s awful.

The criteria for promotion encourages unethical & backstabbing behavior, by requiring arrogant behavior. In order to meet the promotion criteria wording, you need to be super-arrogant like the others in the "club". Since arrogant people are generally less ethical, this filters out better people and the worst people rise to the top. To be truly arrogant means they consider themselves to be the #1 priority; more important than patients, co-workers, shareholders, ethics, law, etc.

Wow... This actually sounds dead-on correct. Managers are the worst here.

100% agree. Managers are allowed to harass and abuse employees with no accountability. If you report such behavior to HR there is a high chance that you will end up losing your job.

True. HR now is the worst ever, no brains and no ethics needed to be there. I wonder if the Employee Relations clowns get bonuses for defending unethical leaders and harassing and bullying employees. That’s what they do now. They treat us like shit. Can’t trust HR at all. And yes, if we complain we really might lose our job. Take all the abuse from manager or be fired. Take all the abuse from HR or be fired. Only unethical yes people survive and stay. The values are just a bunch of words to hang up on a wall, they don’t mean anything. It’s sickening.

This is so very true. Our manager has worked with HR several times to run people off or get them fired. I would never call HR unless I want to be an even bigger target.

I don't think they want to mix with whities that much. Besides we'd all get corona virus

Best thing to do is find a better job. It may seem like a big barrier, but it will be worth it when you no longer have to put up with the nonsense.

WRONG! We TALK about D&I but the smartest and most inspiring diverse talent left a few years ago and many are looking right now. Don’t believe the hype!

Talent is talent, even if you're not labeled as "diverse". Of course the truth is that no single person can be diverse. People need to stop thinking they're special because of their skin color (dark, light, or whatever)

Totally true. 2014 lay-off got rid of some top talent to make way for cheap labor (most of them dependent on Amgen to sponsor them for work Visas). There isn’t much diversity left.

I'm pretty sure anyone on a work visa would count as part of "diversity", for any HR or legal purpose at any company. There may be valid complaints about that, but that means you would be opposing "diversity" which you would need to sufficiently explain & justify to HR

I am pretty sure hiring Indians on visas doesn’t qualify as ‘diversification’ of the workforce by any legal standards even if you only consider skin color as your benchmark for ‘diversity’

Well it looks like it will be Trump v. Bernie later this year. What are Bernie's thoughts on work visas ?

He doesn’t support work visas, nobody should be subjected to that awful word called work. The government will take care of you, they know best comrade.
