Several of my offices have asked me not to call on them anymore as I come into too much contact with patients and could possibly transmit the virus to their office. Has anyone else experienced that too? One of my doctors said sarcastically: “At least you are making a noticeable impact now”. My fear is that once this issue goes away, offices will stay closed to reps going forward as they see what it’s like not to be interrupted by reps anymore...

Today Astellas announced that they are pulling reps from the field and suspending face to face meetings. Any bets on whether Otsuka will do the same?
If you read the main board, you will see that MANY companies have already ordered their salesforce to stay home. Right now, the last thing offices want to see is a drug rep who potentially transmits the virus 8 times a day to different offices. It's just that our idiots at the home offices ( K and I ) value money more than the health of their employees and customers. They will only act if absolutely necessary. No surprise

When this is over you will see new rules in offices about Reps. Since the Reps that have been working in offices the past 3 weeks have done more harm than good in the offices. The distraction that the rep has created during this crisis is simply selfish and serving no one. If I was a medical director I would instantly ban all reps going forward. The policy would be to make an appointment w/ the Office Manager and during the appointment if the Reps is determined to bring No Value to the practice or insist to see an MD sign for a stupid signature samples would not be needed. As a Medical director I would ask the MD for a short list of samples that are often used and those would be the companies that would get the appointments but still would not have any interaction w/ MDs or RNs. Quite simple the Pharma Rep is a complete an udder distraction to healthcare in 2020 and provides nothing of value except trying to appease the host company need for a used old message that hasn't changed in 3 years. This is a total disgrace that Pharma Companies have not been proactive w/ at all. Many took until yesterday to finally place these restrictions and cancel meetings were is should have been done at least 2 weeks ago since these companies are suppose to be patient focused companies...they are nothing close to that.
Well. Panic is a terrible thing. But, a lot of Pharma is deciding to have reps stay home out of caution. If Home office stays home, shouldn't we?
Totally agree with you. The offices will suddenly realize that they can work without being annoyed by a rep. We disturb the office more than offer anything of value. Many offices are just used to reps. That will change!

This whole thing has been totally blown out of proportions! Now get to work and stop whining. The home office knows what it is doing...

We haven’t brought value to offices in years. They are sick of Rexulti. There is nothing new with the drug and won’t be for awhile to come if ever. It is the quintessential me-too drug if ever there was one. The industry needs to pull all reps out of offices for our protection and the protection of office staff and patients for 2 months. Then we will see how many useless meetings and dinner programs they want to spend money on!
What we bring to the office these days has about the value of porn. Another Otsuka rep told me the other day: "The only redeeming value in this job is that someone else does not have to do what I do"...If that isn't a pathetic career I don't know what is!!! None of us would do this fucking job, if was not horrendously overpaid! But yes, we have not brought anything differently or new to our offices for years! There is virtually no reason for the providers to see us. If the doctor decides whether his time is better spent reading a journal or see an Otsuka rep, the answer is pretty obvious. Sales and product management have LET US DOWN BIG TIME FOR YEARS!!! The recent virtual POA was, of course, a total waste of time. With this virus shutting down doors temporarily, many offices may decide they actually like that and keep the doors shut to reps PERMANENTLY.
Those dinner programs are worthless. Reps, DMs all know it. RMs even agree...to a point. But, to the Japanese, spending money equals activity. Activity means activity, not sales...just activity. Keep the ants running and look busy. Like flies on poop...just look like you are doing something.
