Another day of collecting a paycheck and putting my Mgr on mute. I will also “attempt” to call offices and see if they want to be detailed virtually. What a game we play!

In the know here. I would stop joking around about "day 6, got on some bs calls and got paid". I assure you, if this thing goes beyond 4/17 you will be furloughed. Max unemployment is 2,400 per month. Also, better test negative or you wont go out in the field. Of course, hq peeps are exempt from all of this.

Interesting fact from hq, sales are up last week across brands. We are making more money without reps! This may be the new norm, reps really not needed. Keep posting though.

Thanks for your astounding knowledge! The reason sales were up is because offices are afraid that Amgen won’t be able to supply product because a lot the products come from China as well as Spain and Puerto Rico among others. Now that patients aren’t coming into the offices, those sales will lag. Just wait and see. Talk to any office and they will tell you. Get off your high horse and understand your customers!

These posts are mind boggling. You resent management for having you ‘do something’ while at home and still getting paid? Shame on you! You/we could ALL be furlowed and collect NO PAYCHECK, no benefits, no-nothing. Stop whining and grow up. As a manager, I’m helping you save your job during this time by trying to show that we are making an effort. I promise you that the furlow-talk is real! If/when you DO get furlowed the estimated damage is WAY less than 10% loss of employees. (Yes, we’re predicting that as well.) We can deal with that head count reduction without even rehiring; simply realign and absorb the loss, add a little more operating profit and be better off. Just saying. You should be fighting for your position. No bullshit.

Sounds like a dm who is pissed that he/she is having to work a lot while their reps do nothing. They are just passing that busy work into their reps. Cry me a river.

    Dear Mr. Manager,
After your 1 on 1 call with Bob today will you please come back on and let us know the latest plans for the company? I know he values your insights and I for one thank you for fighting for me with Bob's executive team each and every day!

    We really appreciate you!

I am OBU manager and I am embarrassed on how were are approaching this. So you think that people are just sitting around doing nothing? This isn't summer break. People with almost no notice were told to stay home, schools shut down, and now parents have become the teachers. Days are filled with cooking three meals a day, taking care of their houses, looking for food/supplies that may be scarce, taking care of their loved ones and teaching school. There are no babysitters or day camps. I have a mixed team, some younger families, some empty nesters now taking care of their parents, and both have told me how busy their days are...mine included. Everyone wants to get back to work. Sure the lowest common denominator may be screwing off and taking advantage of this time, but they were and would have been doing that anyway. Pointless conference calls won't change their behavior. This is control for control's sake and any tenured leader knows that. This is not a normal time. This is not a vacation. It is a pandemic that is deeply affecting each of us. I am not saying that we are not fortunate to be employed but jamming us with pointless calls and unneeded trainings just so the company feels like they are 'getting their money's worth' lacks vision and leadership...a hallmark of Amgen these day unfortunately...oh how we miss you BA! Our job, as you well know if are truly a manager at Amgen, is to drive demand and results through personal promotion. We are a tactical function. The option for personal promotion is gone for now so why waste time trying to look busy? You want to furlough us? Sure go ahead...you think the stock market is bad now? See what happens if major bio/pharms starts laying their field sales people off. Think of the message that would send to investors and the economy at large. Amgen, if anything, knows how to manage the market via BB. He is gifted in that capacity. It would crush our stock and the sector, so no one is going to lay off their field sales force any time soon. So stop with that nonsense since you do not have any inside information. Lastly, sales are up for almost all bio/pharm companies right now as stockpiling is happening. Outs are high due to buy-ins with the major GPO's and wholesalers who are stockpiling. USO just had a major purchase well outside their normal pattern.

How about this...stop being the douchey hard ass for once. It's a tired act. Have a little compassion for your team, be a leader and not a dictator, show some empathy and understanding and I assure you, your team will work harder for than ever when we return to the field. Treat them the way you sound like you treat them from your post and I'm guessing they already quite on you a while ago...you just don't know it.

    Good luck and stay healthy.

The "Furlow" guy is just some newbie in finance with no work experience. He's not even really a manager, he's a low-level dweeb who likes to pretend he's important somehow.
I propose we call him Mr. Furlow from now on, or at least until he learns how to spell it

Are you sure that you're a manager? "No-nothing" can be replaced with "nothing." Headcount is one...aw, fuck it

I'm done too. IT was hours of calls with my crazy manager.

Some managers are leaving their reps along and having them check in once a week and a few are driving their reps crazy as they have nothing to do with their time other than to make our life miserable.

I can't get much done with all the calls my manager is having. Other regions tell me they are not having calls other than national calls.

Thank you OBU manager for sharing your keen insight on what leadership means. Now, stop giving us busy work and meaningless conference calls multiple times a day. We, too, making lunches, balancing kids, parents and sometimes even neighbors during this difficult time. Give us time to help others around us!
