Corona virus-time off

This is not an OBU issue. This is a company wide issue.

 

Day 9: finally got done with all this busy work my dm wants me to do. What a total waste of time and resources. Maybe I will take tomorrow off.

 

The only thing I've learned and now had solidified by this forum from this whole incident is that you sales reps are a joke. Bottom of the barrel of Amgen. It's no wonder you aren't compensated very well and aren't promoted to the higher ranks of the company. You just don't have the right attitude and ethic. And 100% your response to this post will make that even more clear.

 

I agree. The OBU manager's post is the best of the year. This guy/gal gets it. My manager keeps having call after call so she can tell her manager what she's doing with her team. They are pointless calls and I'm busy trying to home school and care for aging parents-making food, getting groceries while living in fear while I'm doing this, etc.

Amgen needs to stop with the Veeva engage and leadership needs to tell their managers to let it go. We are in a national crisis and conference call after conference call and busy work is causing a great deal of anxiety among reps. I want to go back to work. I can't. So let it go. Stop trying to impress your manager belling telling him what you've been having your team do all day--these managers are clueless, lack any type of emotional intelligence and are self serving.

Typical field moron. I'm not going to dissect your entire soliloquy. You make excuses, and you hire like-minded individuals that do the same. You are paid to work, period. If you want to be paid to relax, take your sick or vacation time, Manager. You could be getting nothing. If that was the case, you would have plenty of time to do all of the aforementioned items that you're mixed team is, currently, having to deal with. Field sales are not the only ones that have to deal with this current pandemic, but you are the majority of the people, that I see, bitching and moaning. You are correct we want to make sure that we are "getting our money's worth." Especially, from positions that average about 25 hours per week of work.

Name calling...real intelligent. Have not made one excuse. Is reading comprehension not your thing? No one is saying they want to get paid for not working. We all want to get back to work, to get back to normal. What I, and others, are saying is our function of personal promotion is greatly limited due to this crisis and in the early stages of the crisis the oncology community is asking us to stay away and to not bombard them with FaceTime requests, spam emails, etc..at the same time we are managing our households during this unprecedented time. Throwing a bunch of pointless conference calls on the calendar for the sole purpose of 'looking busy' and creating 'unnecessary work' to 'get your money's worth' is foolish and unwarranted and is doing noting to better the sales team, create a stronger bond or climate within the organization, nor is it helping drive demand...so then what's the point? This is not bitching and moaning, it is stating facts. Also, I never said this is only affecting field sales. I(we) can only speak of how this is affecting our jobs and our families and how the organization is approaching it. Really, help us understand...how is throwing a bunch of pointless calls "getting your money's worth"? Why is calling that out "bitching and moaning" You must be such a nice little puppet lap dog...do as master says and never question anything ever.

I'll let you in on a little secret...driving demand though personal promotion is how any organization gets their "money's worth" from the field sales team. Last time I checked we didn't punch a clock and or get paid by the hour. Results are what matters and if you get them in 10 hours, 25 hours or 50 hours a week who cares? Why does it matter? Cleary you work in a non-results driven functionality and are on an MBO and corporate bonus...boohoo. This is field sales and it is like this at every company in every industry. Executive leadership knows it...and if you had any experience or wisdom you would too. How about this...you roll into BB's office and tell him you think we should lay off the entire sales force since all they do is bitch and complain while only working 25 hours a week. Let us know how that goes...

Oh, but that's right...we are at Amgen where the process, procedure and optics always matter more than the actual outcome, results and certainly the people.
