WTH can we get anything right? Workday GROW is obviously the Walmart version of what we had before. nice job HR

Bringing the FCR back - omg after hearing for well over a year it is a check the box exercise and waste of time they bring it back and put it in workday lol.. do they not realize that sends a message of we don’t know wtf we are doing...Pretty soon the performance review will be back because they are incompetent will claim they were testing innovation.

While your at it - Why don’t you take the massive workday savings and invest in some real manager development with people who know what they are doing. Then people will get the necessary coaching - isn’t that what Grow is all about

Your English is poor at best...starting with the first sentence...

But regardless, our leaders think they operate in the 90’s...nothing new.

absolutely correct. Did you ever read your FCRs? You better! The fiction is worthy of a Stephen King novel some days. But that is how they will get you...

You are right about the 90's...look out after this Chinese Bioweapon is contained...the Docs we call on will have a crazy pent up need for dinner programs. We will be looking forward to the field rides they need to make up, and our leadership will alter our goals...yet again. With all the proper reporting back. Remember, metrics make sales, not people.

I don't understand why Otsuka cannot make decisions and stick with them - possibly it is the low level leadership. I am not sure but yes grow is dead as you don't hear anything from HR. They don't know what they are doing with this but that should be no surprise. Workday will be a mess like everything else!

Well, did anyone else catch the Town Hall today? Kabir let it be known basically that layoffs are coming...when pressed if head count was in the works for "cost savings" he said there are all options they are looking at, even though there are 130 open positions that are not being filled right now.

Are sales level or growing? Maybe even dipping slightly in some areas? Not bad for not having seen one of us in two months.
Otsuka makes long term decisions and doesn’t react to short term matters such as this pandemic. It’s serious but we will be back soon enough. No, it’s not a reaction it’s a response to an inflection point we are all seeing. They don’t need all these people.
Many businesses are seeing this and you’ll see permanent changes once society returns to a new normal. 15% unemployed and yet things are still getting done.
I won’t miss very many restaurants, I won’t miss movie theaters, and I won’t miss the dozens of reps tripping over each other for the same 1 minute convo over Panera Bread or whoever is left to cater.
Get ready to test your adaptation skills and dealing with ambiguity.

Hopefully Kabir starts at the top! Neither Innes nor Kim could run a hot dog stand if they had to! Overpaid, underworked and not even remotely qualified. But I agree with the previous poster. We have way to many sales people! There is absolutely no reason why current territories need two reps! Most offices are closed anyways. All we do is drive around in cars and milk the cow! And we have been doing it for years. We just don't like to talk about it, but it's the truth. I am not in the Midwest, but I can do my entire "route" in 2 days maximum, "checking samples", because I have absolutely nothing new to talk about! It didn't used to be this way; but in the absence of competent leadership providing us with new and exciting materials, this is what the job has become!

When we go back in the field I will be able to do my route in one day, because of new office policies in place. Oh well....Amazon is hiring!!

Could not have said it better. People need to start making plans now for the future. We have 26-30 million people out of work, many businesses that were on the brink of failure won't reopen. Every sector of the economy is affected, when people stay home! In my State, hundreds of thousands of people have not even received an unemployment check! You think they have money for co-pays? Sorry, rent / mortgage and food come first!!!

This economy simply can't support drug reps being unproductive while receiving huge salaries and bonuses. Even our idiots in the execs office are finally getting the message. Create your own future before Otsuka creates your unemployment!

Heard Lundbeck is filling vacancies. Just like us, only the out of work and desperate will apply. Soon, they will all realize that they can get buy with a 50% reduction in field sales.

This used to be a great career 30 years ago, when we were selling from a proof source binder. Now, thanks to ridiculous overpaid “consultants” it’s all about “share of voice”. These consultants killed the job of the pharmaceutical representative and pharmaceutical companies gladly paid millions of Dollars for their services and Otsuka was no exception.

    Idiots!!!

I don’t think neither the consultants or executives are truly idiots. I think we have people not unlike us who like money without accountability. All make fat salaries and none have never worked for themselves or had to meet a payroll. They read metrics, spin buzzwords and throw out ideas that someone else pays for.
If it’s a bad idea, it was the consultant’s fault and neither will lose their job. If it’s a good idea the executive takes credit.

You are absolutely correct. Add to that the fact that any manager or director can throw a rep under the bus in order to save his or her own skin. It is constantly done at big pharmacy. A rep does not have that option.

Think of a football team. Your scheme isn’t working so you trade some players (Us). Still not working so you fire some assistant coaches (leadership). Soon ownership (Japan) sees the emperor has no clothes (senior leaders) and cleans house.
This is a perfect time with business going well and an opportunity to cull the herd. Why bring everyone back? Maybe bring 50% back and see how things go? If business stays the same and the bottom line grows, Anyone incentives by P&L gets a bonus.

They do it all the time...one minute you are a rock star and the next they are digging to come up with a reason to get rid of you. Most toxic environment I have ever worked in!

You have no idea. Hero or Zero. The favoritism is astounding. I have never seen such a toxic, mismanaged, sycophantic organization. Activity, activity, activity. That does not move a needle, but God forbid you do not have a lunch everyday. Bring in a demoralized MSL that gets treated like shit because they are "industry".

Or those fucking programs! Same people show up because they are the ONLY people that show up. Beg, borrow plead to get even MA's out. Then if they RSVP, they don't show, but it is your fault their baby daddy's sister sharted and needed an emergency appendectomy because her Momma said that it runs in her family because her cousins brothers sisters friend said so. She is a nail tech and does the nails of the cleaning crew of your office, so she knows the real deal. Doctors don't know shit.

Try explaining that to your manager AND compliance. Show me a rep that does a ton of programs, and I'll how you a box checking shill, that probably violates every compliance rule on their book.

And do not forget the JRR Tolkien field ride reports...

Toxic is such minimalistic word for the environment.

But, Ready Now at 1/3rd your price is waiting in the wings...

You hit the nail on the head, brother!! Could not have said it better. What gets me is that there are not more Otsuka reps complaining about this at CafePharma! I just can't believe people are such cowards!

A few other posters here have written about how stupid our leadership is, especially from RD up. It seems they are only protecting their own interest and don't want to rock the boat, no matter how necessary it is. And we are supposed to respect these assholes! If you blow your DM, kiss enough ass, or have good coverage by insurance companies you can always get a good field ride report. It has turned into a total circus. This industry is a far cry from what it used to be. If you have good metrics, no matter how fake, management gets a huge erection. Unreal.

Right on. These, so-called, leaders need to take their directions from reps. We know what's really happening out here.

Metrics. Manage by metrics. Garbage in, garbage out. I know of three reps that leave their house only to do field rides. Their side hustles is where they make their own money - at least that is what they say. I cannot verify, but, they seem legit. After all, most psychs are too busy, and no one wants to Graduate Med School as a psych - over worked. Under paid.

But, if you see a car in the parking lot...that it a call right.

This company is just grooming you for the career as professional liar...
