Can anyone verify that Virology will be affected in lay offs? I have a family and need credible info.

Last year they announced layoffs mid October and it went into effect January 1 if you didn’t choose internal postings.

Ask yourself this question: how much did sales in my territory decrease during this covid shut down? If the impact has been minimal, there is no need for a sales force this size.

you don't get it cochise...there hasn't been a "need" for big sales forces since the early '90s...

the drug companies need a place to park all their gobs of cash...

the reps are a write off, so they keep armies of reps for that reason...

no other industry operates like Big Pharma...

that's why you get paid to stay home and basically do nothing...

didn't that ever seem at least a bit odd to you?

Expect half gone. In actual numbers that is not a lot because it is a small sales force but it is about to become much smaller.

This whole thing feels shady, I don't think leadership is being straight with us. Compare notes from the E and W and the story changes. Will the cuts be big or small? Are decisions based on competencies or on the sales in a territory? This has been a fun ride but I think it's time to go.

People who are sitting there thinking this is going to be a small impact to the sales force are naive. You think they are going to tell you? The directors are probably worried about their own jobs and you think they will know about yours? It is a 3rd party company that makes these decisions. They always look at stupid things when making these cuts too. It’s not about performance. It is about limiting lawsuits. If you think you are safe because you have had great performance, you are a fool.

Why would it be large ? If there is a futures pipeline the lean salesforce will remain and the older problem employees get weeded out

Just relax and take it easy for next 6 weeks. Your CTL doesn’t care either at this point. Everything has been decided already so no need to guess the outcome.

Why would it be large? The lack of products and access. Current products aren’t exactly blockbusters. The pipeline keeps getting pushed out. You don’t think competitors have things coming out sooner when the pipeline keeps getting pushed out?

There are plenty of merck products you can help with until your hiv drug launches. Merck will never launch a blockbuster- just keytruda and they don’t know how to handle that like a real oncology company
