Johnson & Johnson vows to add 50% more Black managers in five years. Here's how.

The New Brunswick-based health giant will also fund college scholarships for Black students as part of a $100 million initiative.

Johnson & Johnson plans to increase the number of Black managers in the company by 50% within five years as part of a $100 million initiative totackle racial inequality, executives said.

The world's biggest health company said it also would create college scholarships for Black students interested in science, business and health care.

"This is not something that we do because we think it's going to get an immediate financial return," Michael Sneed, executive vice president of global corporate affairs, said in an interview. But "when you have an organization that is focused on serving everybody in all communities, we think that's certainly a great factor in our overall commercial success."

Allow me to translate - We don’t want anyone to boycott our products because we don’t have enough POC in leadership positions.

Allow me also to translate our brilliant corporate leadership,

This is an opportunity that does not come along often. But the past several months have afforded leadership a chance to look so good socially. We have to politically exploit it in any way we can. And we will make it sound so real, empathetic and viable.

Well, kiddies I worked in this industry with several big pharma companies and some more "socially" conscious ones pushed diversity long, long ago. Pushed it down white men's throats with minority consultative groups telling them how truly awful we were as white males. Even the white females felt bad for us. And it forced change like diversity goals from interviewing to hiring to promotion. But the power base never really budged. Never for it's own sake.

The point is, when it's forced like all this is across corporate America, you have to really look at why? It is not about social justice. It is actually about perpetuating particular circles of people's power base. They estimate they are better off by making these "obvious" moves. Even allocating significant earnings to prove how sincere they are. But never forget, the power base in these corporations like ours is what drives and rewards itself. That is the intelligentsia that wants to shape your thinking, your loyalty, your buy in to ultimately, reward themselves in the corporate culture.

Do you really think these 'leaders' did not know, we do not reflect the general population in 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010? Our core values long ago included diversity on a global scale. Hypocrites.
Think. They are actually weak bastards, who self-enrich themselves to transgenerational levels making politically "correct" decisions for their benefit of power and wealth. No one else.

    Bottom line,
if we had integrity, diversity would have naturally, not forced, occurred over time. Now, it's a "look at us!!!" crisis!!! Look, we are saving the day here, at J&J. Really. This world is so full of manipulation, insincerity and bottom line corruption.

Wonder what laws we are consciously violating today somewhere in the world?

Spot on, with the exception $100 million is a significant sum over 5 years. While $100 million seems like a big number, it’s chump change to JNJ.

Couldn’t agree more. JnJ has at times tried to force metrics and it has failed miserably. The worst thing leadership can continue to do is award manager positions to diversity candidates that don’t qualify or have skills for the role. That is how leadership’s credibility has been lost. Not only have we lost momentum particularly in technical areas without the right skills in these mgr roles but the staff becomes so demotivated by what is really so crystal clear to everyone. Let’s get to the root of this once and for all and make the best candidate for the job the top guiding principle.

What? You white males would have leadership be 100% White Males if you had your way.

Unqualified always point to race and victimization, but society is obviously getting tired of the charade

Correct you are. And once this virus fades and the job market opens up, wait until you see the mass exodus of younger, non-Black talent. It’s going to make your head spin. This will negatively impact the quality of future leadership significantly.

Correct. Just like affirmative action this initiative SHOULD be an insult to all blacks.

Is it an insult to the biggest beneficiary of Affirmative Action...Karen’s?

See, that's the problem. We have an apparent minority saying, to this "white" guy that this "white" guy would want 100% of all management jobs to be held by "whites". Really? Read. I did not say that at all. Read.

Or are you not qualified to read a particular point of view on executive leadership's manipulative use of social events for their own power play political gain. Or did you not get that this "white" guy basically said that discrimination has been here at J&J and all big Pharma for decades? I'll highlight the key lines above for you.

Like this the most, Wonder what laws we are consciously violating today somewhere in the world?

What if we had a clear, global view of Johnson & Johnson's full business dealings by and with top executives right today, December 4, 2020?
    • What would we find out if we had independent investigation, legal analysis, forensic accounting and the like all take a good, full look at how our self-proclaimed, "high integrity" executive leadership actually behave? You'd want to send them to JAIL on several counts. You'd want large financial penalties.

Does anyone else see what massive hypocrites our EXECUTIVE "Leadership" are in this life?

If we had the time to really analyze the past 6 months many of us, would OBJECTIVELY, dispassionately without some "color or race" filter see the following trends sweeping across America:

    1) Racial training courses for whites (documentation below) on white privilege telling them they built the US on stolen land and asked for a commitment to be "anti-racist'.

All San Diego teachers told 'you are racist', forced to attend 'white privilege training - NZ Herald

Again, objectively, RACISM is in every RACE. Many of us "old timers" went through this at particular Pharma companies in the 1990s. Diversity training with a major mental whipping. Hired minority consulting groups presented "our white privilege story" and told all white males in a firm, judgmental manner that we were unequivocally, racist and intolerant. All of us. Basically that we should be ashamed of who we are. But they never asked us, our upbringing, our values and friends along the way.

    2) So, Corporate America, J&J at the forefront, is in, what they want you to believe a big push to correct the "wrongs" as if this situation just occurred. Corporate executives are seizing these social events as an opportunity to protect their power base by appearing to care about what they earnestly, said they cared about decades ago.

You see, the power and wealth mongers at the top, of ALL color, gender and type have done nothing but protect their massive pot of gold, power and control. They never relinquished any control. Never gave anything up. And, they will not now unless pressed to the worse degree. ONLY they ask you to hire based on genetics, or some other filter; rather than best candidate for today & tomorrow's business needs. That's hypocritical. Bad business.

Nothing more than hypocritical social engineering across the United States of America.

Lets look objectively on which people of color need to be more so identified, interviewed, hired and promoted as this melting pot of a nation changes?

It is Hispanics and Latinos far more so than blacks. And Asians are also growing at a far faster rate than blacks in this country known as the United States of America. Of course, blacks make up ~15% of the total population today. But that is not projected to increase nearly the rate of Hispanics and Latinos. And, we need to considerate of the fast growing Asian population. Absolutely, people of color need to a major focus as this demographic change is occurring faster than predicted. But do we overlook Hispanics, Latinos and Asians to hire 50% blacks by such and such a date? Nope, they should be a major focus.

This is a major mistake by JOHNSON & JOHNSON's EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP. It further proves the point, they only react and care about protecting their power, control and wealth.

Executive "Leadership" here exemplifies they are the quintessential hypocrites of our time.

I could share many articles with documentation to support the above comments. This Brookings summary is an excellent one to start.

The nation is diversifying even faster than predicted, according to new census data

The new data shows that, by 2019, the white population share declined nearly nine more percentage points, to 60.1%. The Latino or Hispanic and Asian American population shares showed the most marked gains, at 18.5% and nearly 6%, respectively. While these groups fluctuated over the past 40 years, either upward (for Latinos or Hispanics and Asian Americans) or downward (for whites), the Black share of the population remained relatively constant.

Second, the Census Bureau was not projecting white population losses to occur until after 2024. This makes any national population growth even more reliant on other race and ethnic groups.
