Does anyone have any field knowledge of this company? They are putting together a direct sales force. It's my understanding their Finess product is going to compete with the Acclarent balloon sinuplasty procedure. Supposed to be a more direct approach though. I'm always interested in getting in on the ground floor of a start-up with new technology, if it looks like it will be a hit with the surgeons? Would be coming from spine, so ENT would be a completely new realm for me. Any insight into how this type of technology would play in that market would be appreciated. Thanks.

They have been out for a while and also have been building a sales force for over a year or more. So technically they are still a start up but they have been around for a while. Not sure if you know but Ethicon purchased Acclarent which is not good for Entellus. If Entellus was a better business play wouldnt JNJ be more interested in them?

Last year they had very large territories, 5-6 states or more. This looks like a great story on paper but with the largest competitor getting purchased by a huge group like JNJ it will only make this more difficult to succeed. Everybody wants this thing to get bought so they can make money but not sure if that will happen anytime soon.

I have some similar questions about Entellus Medical.
Why without improved reimbursement or products are they supposedly adding so many people to the field? Why has there been so much turnover in the last few months? From what I understand entellus only has 1 area where it can be utilized, verse Acclerant that has the arena well supported? Does anyone know what Entellus is paying?

was told base in 60's and total package of 140k and up. you ask good questions and when i interviewed i also asked them. i really believe they are trying to get bought but acclarent beat them to the punch and will continue to dominate.

I have been contacted about position here as well. I have some concerns, and was wondering if any current/former entellus reps would like to clear the air about the compensation, company culture, selling environment????

Beware. They seem to be hiring and firing people left and right trying to find someone who can get the product to stick. They haven't sold a lot of product; just seem to be giving a lot away. They just fired the Phoenix rep and are trying to hire another. I was advised to stay clear. Its a novel idea but doesn't work well in real life settings. Looks like a spear. I wouldn't want someone coming anywhere near by nose with that thing.

Funny, Entellus didn't have and hasn't had a Phoenix rep. Ever. They are in the process of hiring one, but the rep from a neighboring state has been covering down on Phoenix for awhile.
As for firing, I know of only one rep who was let go. Reasons for that were not made public, so it's pure speculation and since I don't know the full story, I'll leave it at that.
As for hiring, Entellus just went through one round of hiring and is going through another. That's how you build a sales force. The new product that was released, a direct competitor for Acclarent, is building steam slowly, and you need more people on the ground to get the product into the surgeons' hands.
Giving it away? See, now I know you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. Some hospitals require a one or two 'trial' no-charge PO, but most times there are ways around that. Especially if the hospital is already using balloons.
Did a few of the previous reps leave recently? Yes. You can expect that when territories are getting cut down. It's going to happen. But, it wasn't a mass exodus.
It's still a new company that is going through some growing pains. But, the CEO took a tiny company called VNUS from concept to $500M when it was finally sold to Covedian. He knows what he is doing.

They didnt offer a gurantee which is why I didnt come over. You may never see a penny with this company b/c it takes time to move a product like this. They need a 140k number at least to get people over here. It takes money to make money. Wonder by D.Cassidy left?

I'm a current device rep but an outsider to ENT and I'm looking at both companies. Let me see if I have this straight:

Entellus: <$140K at plan, Acclarent: $240K at plan
Entellus: Start up looking for VC funding that is scarce, Acclarent: Deep pockets of J&J now
Entellus: Second to market with a device that on the surface, doesn't seem to have any clinical advantage over Acclarent.

Wow, guess I won't be calling the recruiter back that contacted me about the Entellus gig...

Add about $35k to the Entellus total and you'd be closer. Will have some that hit over $200k this year. So, Acclarent may be a larger total comp, but do you have any clue what their quota is? If you do, you'd know that there are very, very, very few reps that are hitting that number over there. Many more will hit their number at Entellus.
As for clinical advantage-- if both products are the same and one is less expensive and much easier to use, gotta think it goes without saying that the latter will be chosen. Guess which company gets that title? Ain't Acclarent.
So, you choose-- less money but a much better chance of seeing full payout; ease of use; less expensive and it can be used on multiple sinus. And, for coming second to market, Entellus took some serious money from Acclarent in the last quarter.

dont care what the total comp at plan is. WITH PRODUCTS LIKE THESE THERE HAS TO BE A GURANTEE IN PLACE. It could be a while to move product and if they want device reps who know how to move business they need to pay for it. Without a gurantee you will get reps who are hard up for jobs or job hoppers. Good luck.

So, who do you know that works at Entellus? I mean, how else could you come to such a decision unless of course you know someone/people that work that and have given you first hand knowledge?
Or, are you just someone who pulls info out of his ass and posts on this site out of lack of anything better to do?

Dick Cassidy left the company over a year ago, so this means you interviewed with him over a year ago. You're still trolling around on the Entellus message boards? You truly must have no life, or you're still bitter at Entellus for not hiring you. Which one is it?

He was going to be held accountable-- something he didn't agree to. Was too emotionally tied up in the entire situation, and didn't like the fact that in sales, sometimes you have to actually make some people uncomfortable to get them to produce. Once Entellus started growing and becoming a true company, he didn't like the small company feeling leaving, and moved on to different pastures.
What sucks is that he has a pretty good eye for talent. So, if you interviewed with him, and didn't get hired, don't feel bad. It just means you weren't up to the tasks required with a start up.

Have been talking to the hiring manager for the South region. Not sure, though-- seems like their competition is WAY too big to even try to go up against. Plus, is it me, or is the comp package WAY too low?
Any Entellus reps out there that can comment? Is J&J just a killer?
