Now all you Mickey Mouses of the US organization, listen to the business wizards from headquarters:

85% of diabetics are too damn fat, while among fatso's only 15% are diabetic. Now if we can create the perception that all fat people are diabetics and hence deserve treatment by our rip-off victoza, then we become rich. I mean seriously rich. It is that simple. Get going.

This is the Novo strategy going forward, making overweight a treatable condition worth giving maximum reimbursement. By extending the concept of disease into the normal segment we will rip-off the taxpayers at large. Fuck we are good.

You MUST be right. I mean, obesity doesn't cause the health system a dime, does it? I mean, fat people NEVER have diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart attacks, strokes, and require expensive, long-term rehabilitations, do they? That must just be all our imaginations!! Thanks for making it so clear--the problem is ALL with Novo for pursuring a solution to the #1 problem facing the health care system today--too many fat fucks. Wow, your genius is mindboggling.

Good point, but if we are to pre-treat pre-diabetics why not give them a little bit of metformin ? - no injections, the safety is much better documented, its weight neutral, and much much cheaper. Good for the general health of the population, not quite as good for Novo. What do you prefer ?

Well, for now, you are exactly right. Victoza has no indication for pre-diabetes, and we don't talk about it's use there. However, something must be done to treat OBESITY, not just pre-diabetes. There are a lot of overweight people out there with huge health problems and health bills that do not have diabetes.

How about educating in the direction of improved eating habits, stop excessive ingestion of refined carbohydrates and push the importance of exercise. Why inject yourself with a CNS modifying agent with questionable safety and a cancer label attached just to lose a few pounds ? Could it have to do with profit hunger on the part of Novo ? or is it simply ethical behavior carried out to the extreme ?

Yes, I'm exactly right. Novo has no fuckin' business mixing Victoza with the obesity epedemic of the western world. Don't inject yourselves into a business you know fuck about. Just leave it. Leave the poor fat fucks and stick with your timely insulin injections for type 1 diabetes. The rest is bullshit.h

Among fat people there is about 15 % diabetics, the rest is your imagination.

About 85-90% of insulin used in the western world is used in type 2 patients (bigger Pt numbers and bigger doses required) so I don't think we will take your advice.

The only treatment on the market for obesity is hardly a Pt-friendly treatment, orlistat works more like aversion therapy. ie You can eat the Big Mac but go no more than 5 Yds from the can for the next 24 hours.

Obesity is a precursor to several diseases. Not just diabetes.

Do people not know what healthy eating habits are yet? Seriously? C'mon, they simply choose not to eat healthy. Education is failing, and pharmacology seems to be a way that can help.

I thought Novo branded itself as a world leader in diabetes care, but I guess it depends on how well it pays off.

Novo is a world leader in diabetes care. Does that mean that's ALL we can do. I guess we should scratch our work in growth hormone, hemophilia, and wome's health.

In short, shut the fuck up.

Please don't sidetrack a worthwhile discussion. If we want early intervention why not dose with metformin ? It's weight neutral, orally available, superior safety profile, and above all, much more cost efficient. No need to waste money on Victoza in this area.
