I observed a J&J Auditor performing an investigation on one of my people.

A little investgation of my own disclosed that the same J&J Auditor was fired from their previous position for being unethical.

The unethical Auditor falsely claimed to be a CPA. That is right, never passed the exam.

It is ironic that the same person is investigating the ethics of others.

I took a ride with an auditor, and this is what happned:

I have to share this cause this is just plain unbelievable.

It was shortly after our luncheon and we had a long drive ahead of us to our next office. about halfway into the drive he asked me if there was a gas station or restaurant we could pull into. We were driving through a very rural area so we had a difficult time finding something after stopping at a few small stores that were not even open. Eventually we got to a small restaurant and he ran in and spent at least 20 minutes inside. When he returned he said that he had checked his voice mail and that he had to go on an important conference call and that we were going to have to end the day early.

So, I wasn't one to complain about going home, but on the way back the car really began to smell horrible. It was very difficult to pretend that I couldnt smell it, and he became really uncomfortable and we were both silent for most of the drive back. It was a very quick goodbye as well, with no recap on the day. I am very weirded out by this. I guess I should just pretend it never happened and hope it never happens again? But boy oh boy did my car wreak.

I had a real bad experience with that guy.
You should send your information to HR.

Re: Unethical J&J Auditor-what to do

If he: (1) has faked credentials,(2) goofed off on company time, (3) broken accounting stds ---- CALL THE 800 Compliance Hotline or speak with your company counsel. He WILL BE FIRED for item #1 immediately.

Call the Hot Line immediately. Have your facts lined up, preferably in electronic format. Be professional and keep the larger ethics and financial violations at the top of your list.

J&J uses an outsource (Global Compliance Inc.) Hot Line monitoring group to avoid potential conflicts of interest and to keep information anonymous.

The auditor will be fired. Since whistle-blowers can claim up to 10% of fines for fraud, J&J has become extremely sensitive over any goof-ups in the finance area.

Let me tell you.. When you call up that hotline, the first person they reach out to is the person and their management. I had that happen once when a consultant called up the hotline and within 5 minutes, the leadership team were formulating a strategy on how to respond to them and instructed those in the bottom to do or not do certain things. After that experience, it opened my eyes that the credo hotline is only there to give them a heads up on issues forthcoming so they can squash them before it gets worse. If this guy is on the favorites list of some powerful VP, nothing will happen and if you reveal yourself or make it easier for them to find you, the head rolling will be yours in the next round.. guaranteed!! That's exactly what happended to that poor consultant and all of his team and those were justified as "business decisions".
