If anyone could provide a bit of feedback on the division. I realize that it is not a technical sell and is based on price. I am looking at a change and was approached for an initial interview and trying to make a decision if I should go for it or not. I have been in Medical for 7 years, mostly in surgical and a bit of capital. Can money be made in this division still? I know that all areas of medical have taken a hit but can anyone see this turning around to make money? I am starting to see there isn't a lot of high paying jobs in the market anymore. I heard thay you have to pretty much hit above quota to make decent cash.

P Lease give feedback on earning potential, commission, etc. Do throw out that 80% of the reps never hit their number last year and lived off of base as it was pretty much th same across all medical jobs last year.

$45k base salary plus $45k bonus potential. Depending on the division, the $45k bonus is split among 3-5 product categories. If you are less than 85% in a category you are off the pay grid and get zero payout. If you are over plan, you get approx 15% of any overrage dollars.
First year, you are looking at 80-ish depending on length of guarantee and base salary. Terrible management from top down- we have ensured a culture of rah-rah, yes men, by hiring region managers in their 20's without a clue. If you question the herd, or communicate reality with your superiors you will be branded as a trouble maker and will be weeded out.

In a good year, you will make $90-100k, a great year $110k. In a bad year, you will be in the $70k range.

I just had a recruiter call me about this position. They claimed to offer a guarantee of almost six figures with a company car for first year. Is this a stable, good position and is it somewhere that a good sales rep can grow? I have been in dental for quite some time and am sick of dealing with dentists. I am bored and want a new challenge. Can this be a good long term move?

You'll be in the bowels of hospitals dealing with Materials Management. Everything is sold on price. It's the division that keeps the lights on and allows for funding of innovation debacles in Mansfield.

Just like #3 I had a call from a recruiter and said it was 110K first year with a company car. She said most reps in the 3rd year are making nearly 200k. Is this way out of the norm?

While $200k is not unheard of, I would cut that in half for the typical years 2-3. This is not a job where you will make north of $115 consistently. It's a good gig without a ton of stress, but you aren't going to get rich at any Covidien business unit, much less Kendall.

I have to agree, the only kicker is the retention bonus - up to $25k this year (for hitting the quota year over year). That puts a lot of reps above $100k every year - with minimal stress...not a bad gig.

While its a good program, what percentage of the sales force is getting the $25k? Less than 10-15%? The reality is most people that move on from Kendall are getting jobs that pay $150k and up so the chance of making 5-25k in retention bonus is not that compelling in the long run.
