GSK Banning Android Phones?

My contract is finally up, I was excited to buy, with my own money, a Droid 2. But Glaxo has revoked Verizon's authority to sell me new phones at all (in store), and the glaxo-specific web site and customer support line says NO ANDROID PHONES allowed.

This is new. What happened? What changed? Will it change back? All my friends and family are upgrading to new shiny Iphones and Android phones and Glaxo won't let me buy the phone that I want?

Anyone know what's going on? Anyone experience the same problem?

Androids and iPhones were banned. Due to security issues. However the ban has been lifted and IT is working to make them available as part of the phone plans in Q1 of 2011. It may seem "stupid" but when you are using these devices for business and confidential information is being transmitted it can actually put the company at risk.

From the level of activity on this site, you'd think they were banning GSK IT altogether.
