I am interviewing for a position in massachusetts and was just wondering what the culture is like in the area? What are the dm's like? Do they give you autonomy or do they micromanage? Your help is appreciated. I want to make sure if I jump that it is the right move. I like the products, but don't want to work in an environment that has a DM breathing down my neck all hours of the day.

I don't think that there is anyone left in that area to answer you. There has been and will continue to be a mass exodus from that area. But to answer your question, people I have talked to in that area say the managers and RD creature a terrible work environment to sell in. A lot of ruling through fear, pressure to perform without business improvement ideas, no positive reinforcement, etc. However if you are trying to break into the industry go for it. They will hire and promote almost anyone if you play the game, talk the talk, and learn to take lumps quietly or enthusiastly. So if that attracks you go for it!

The midget managed to push out 4 (two left and are doing so much better and two stepped down because of him) of the 8 reps that were there when he took the spec manager. That would be a red flag to me if I were in charge. But instead let's give him leadership awards. I say lets just give him the smallest hands award and chalk it up to him being a social r*****...my goodness how did that guy find a woman!
