I have an interview here... Can someone give me pro's vs con's on Keystone? There is a lot of trashing on here but I want to get both sides...I'm coming from an OR background and want to see if any money can be made?? Thanks for the help!!
Every company has it's own problems, don't care, selling is a personel think, ifnyou do you job, care about your customers, you will win.
WOW! I never thought the Keystone managers got on here drunk and posted replys like the one above. Here it is OR guy: Spotty/Bad Past - Struggling/Sinking Present - Questionable/Zero future. They will draw you in with the ability to kill it year 1 but not year 2. Beacuse they won't be around in a year or so it may be a good gig if you want to be looking again in 2012.
You can be the best intentioned hardest working rep at Keystone, it is not going to matter. The products they sell are not differentiated enough to make an impact in the market. If you are in OR sales, then I would think there is something better, more lucrative available in the OR market. At keystone you will be making cold calls all day, filling out endless reports, and you'll be watched like a hawk, all for nothing. Some of the things on this board are BS, but in that BS there is a load of truth. This company is going nowhere.
All you need to know is their initial intention was to use someone else's money to launch a me too product that added nothing to the space, and they couldn't even make a copycat that was good enough not to get pulled from the market in record fashion. They have zero reputation as an implant company, and the only people left there couldn't go anywhere else.
Hey guays, how long are you in this industry? All implant systems out there are almost equal, just generic! The difference is you! You make the difference not the product!
These are the words of a true amateur. The product is really one of the only things that matters in the implant industry and most industries. I have been in the implant field for 6 years, I have worked with several companies in different capacities. I have first hand detailed knowledge of product specific information about Keystone as well as other implants. Basically the market is fragmented between the high priced, "branded" players like Nobel, Straumann, 3i, and Zimmer. And the low priced "value" players like Implant Direct, MIS, Megagen, etc. When a company has a weak, mediocre or non innovative product with a low price the implant has a chance. If it is a legacy implant that has large market share with a high price-Nobel, Straumann, etc, the implants will sell. If the product is high priced, with low innovation, and low perceived value, the product will die. Keystone falls into this category. All of their products are licensed from other companies, they are not differentiated. The other companies also sell those same products to the same doctors as Keystone. Look at Anatomage software and then look at Keystone's EasyGuide. Same product, slight tweaks. Their bone material is the same story. Look, if you think the industry is wrong, and lazy, and the Keystone reps lack motivation and initiative, then go ahead take a job there and change the industry. Most likely you will start there with great intentions, after two or so months of making hundreds of cold calls with zero results you will realize that the product does in fact matter. When your monthly sales quota is $45,000 and your total revenue for the month is $3400, let us know how you'll make the difference to get management off your back. Seriously let us all know, because we will use your tactics and strategies. What the hell do I know anyway, just another lazy, overpaid rep.
I have been in the business for over 20 years and you hit the nail on the head. Keystone for investors on paper appeared to be a great investment however the dental arena does not mirror the medical arena. Dental is a totally different animal. The initially started selling a putty that did not work and software while they were developing a unique implant system. They could not deliver so they bought Lifecore Biomedical and then let go of their top producers at low cost relationships do enter into th equation. Lifecore was labeled as the Xerox company of the implant arena. Keystone lost at least 80% of their implant sales. They now are trying to push a new bone graft which is BS take a look at the Dynagraft product insert no different than the Accel insert. They purchased an implant from Italy that did not do well there. If you don't have a job and need a job go work for them however don't stop looking.
What are you guys talking about? Keystone is as innovative as it gets. They now have a new implant that is pink at the top so metal never shows through. Brilliant stuff!!!!
So what your saying shit for brains is the pink is there expecting recession!!!! Why not make it white to blend it in with the Bone?
Have you all forgotten that Keystone has been a joke since Russ Olsen and his band of merry losers rolled out of Straumann a few years ago. W-P bought into this joke and sent in their shock troops with their newly printed MBA's hoping to make it all seem real - it is true that there is such a thing as too much money. For many the only question was when will the bubble burst - NEVER IF What will 2011 hold for Keystone - with any luck turning off the lights Incidentally the most innovative introduction that will be the hallmark of Keystone is the shoe shone stand in their booth
The consensus is that Keystone is over. Over is actually being generous since Keystone never made a difference to begin with. For all their hype that they were going to be the next huge thing in implants, nothing at all ever came of them. Continuing to discuss the company is akin to beating a dead horse. Keystone is a non starter, they have no future, offer no innovation, and as of lately there isn't even any worthwhile dirt or gossip to talk about. Lets let this joke just go down into the annals of history as another of a long line of bad Wall street decisions. Just because one has an MBA and a bunch of client's hard earned money does not guarantee success.
Blend in with bone? You mean blend in with the color of the crown? In case you didn't know this, teeth aren't white. Having a pink collar will eliminate the metal look of the gingiva. Awesome stuff.
The problem here is that Keystone is taking for granted that they will lose so much crestal bone to expose the coronal aspect of the implant. Or are they now advocating to place it supra-crestal? Either way, a nice idea for a problem many other implant companies have overcome with better technologies and surfaces. Most of all- testing in humans over time. Keystone is dead in the water.
I don't know that there is a single competent person anywhere near the top of Keystone. I don't mean to be a jerk, but I seriously cannot fathom some of the decisions they made and their current lack of activity. Management expects the sales force to make the money (anyone know the goals this year? 20% - 30% growth?) while they lay back and do virtually nothing. The support for sales and customers is practically non-existent, and it gets worse. Their manufacturer is full of incompetent employees who don't speak English and there have already been serious supply issues resulting in customer loss. Combine that with some threats of lawsuits and the picture starts to get grim. What does management do in these situations? Nothing... nothing at all. Business as usual. I can't help but wonder if they aren't all just riding it out until the severance package is offered. I just don't understand how so many incompetent people ended up in one place. The only good people have been fired or have found employment elsewhere. My advice to Keystone would be to manufacture in China and sell online. There is no way they are going to be able to meet their goals. Every aspect of their business model is not working. Their products might as well be a xerox of other products that are already out there for less money. The industry is brutal enough as it is without adding the problems of directionless management, failing morale, out of control expenses, and an unreliable overseas manufacturer who rebuffs all communications. Maybe the rumor is true, and they are going to go for one more year before calling it quits. It would make sense that the upper level knows this, has determined success impossible, and is behaving accordingly.
I found Keystone Dental and I "Veni, Vidi, Vici"....BUT, it was so bad-to-the-bone situation that I had to migrate elsewhere without any regrets….By the way, all the hate for the Keystone Dental seems to derive from one source only (with blonde hair)…Am I right or am I right, right?
