Finally! A conference call. This should be good. Can't wait to see the color of lipstick on this pig! I hope they don't insult our intelligence and I certainly hope they have something reassuring to say about the goals we still haven't received.

my dweeb DM tells me to sell on efficacy! The KOLs know the differences are fairly subtle between the two drugs but this move by the FDA give ambrisentan a huge advantage and something real for Gilead to talk about!

Elliott woos Actelion investors via website

    Mon Mar 7, 2011 2:53am EST

    * Encourages shareholders to register shares, vote at AGM

    * Says Actelion has high-risk strategy, poor track record ZURICH, March 7 (Reuters) - Activist hedge fund Elliott Advisors said on Monday it has launched a website to help investors in Europe's biggest biotech Actelion (ATLN.VX) vote at the company's shareholder meeting.

In February, New York-based Elliott called on Actelion to explore a possible sale, and for its chairman and chief executive to resign from the board, a call the company rejected. [ID:nLDE7130KD]

On Friday, sources familiar with the situation said Elliott had hired headhunters to find candidates for Actelion's board and is also using Georgeson, a firm of proxy solicitors, to secure support from other shareholders. [ID:nLDE7231OC]

Georgeson is helping Actelion shareholders register their shares via a website so they can vote at the annual general meeting, where Elliott plans to voice its concerns.

"The Company's high-risk strategy of investing heavily in new and unproven compounds, despite its poor track record at delivering new products to market in the last four years, deserves to be open to proper scrutiny and shareholders deserve to be given a choice about whether this remains the best course for their Company to pursue," Elliott said on Monday.

Actelion was not immediately available for comment. The company is valued around 6.59 billion Swiss francs ($7.1 billion).

I can just hear some of our former co-workers having a series of good laughs! I can remember RE commenting anl emphatic NO WAY! When asked about the possibility of the Black Box being removed from the ambrisentan label. The news of this past Friday is just grand!

never say never. he is so out of touch w/ the reality of selling to non-bought & pd-KOLs, & if he's such a marketing genius, why are the feds scrutinizing?

OH YEAH, You betcha! We are livin' the dream right now... The idea of RE, TS, PM, SJ sitting in a conference room wondering what the hell happened is awesome... how about our friends in HR- Matt, Stacy?

You were the ones that treated your workers like expendable garbage- we are still here, and we are going to run Actelion right into the ground. Payback is a b_ tch.
