Otsuka - SHAME! SHAME ! SHAME !!! -- You gave quite the dog and pony with your little OAPI Dog & Pony show! However, your DM's actions in making decisions and leaving well educated and seasoned professionals who prepared and came to you to interview on your terms -- leaving people hanging shows us all you are either complete jerks who are narcissistic and incompetent as well as unprofessional or you are just so incredibly disorganized and overwhelmed with the staffing process you have no clue the bad effects and putrid message you are sending out surrounding your beloved OTSUKA as a result of these practices (or really should say Non-Practices!) You have an abundance of awesome professionals waiting to hear either a rejection or next step from you and you've exceeded your grace period - SHAME SHAME !!!

This poster says it all - I'm just sick the way this industry and company's like Otsuka are treating the very people who lined their pockets over the years. Shame-Shame really states it well! I just pray one or two of the OAPI DM's who care read these posts and decide to make that sales force something they can be proud to be a part of not just more sleeze in what has become a slimy group of sales people (Not just OAPI - All Pharma Mgmnt anymore) It's like Junior High school let out and all the 8th graders went into Pharma Sales Mgmnt!

They called me, there was obviously something in my resume that they were looking for.
They screened me, obviously I said what they were looking for.
They sent me to LA, obviously I made the final three.

Now my question: Was I just a sacrificial lamb to satisfy a legal requirement for the "process" when they already had someone chosen? 21 year career, 6 years of psych/neuro in the territory I applied for. Personal development of the key opinion leaders as speakers, membership in the professional associations that use the med. I'm a solid candidate but was there ever really a chance I would get the position? The other candidates I met in LA were impressive, none from my geography but I understand how competitive it is now. I don't mind getting beat, I don't like it, but I don't mind getting beat on a level playing field and I guess that's my bottom line, was this anything more than a charade for 2/3 of us?

spot on!! we were there to meet the min req for the HR team. Think back to the interviews if you were not BMS you had been out of work for 3, 4, 8 months. We didn't interview with the managers. We were an easy target for some of the lowest people on earth "The Right Thing" so they made their money. Remember them please! Companies will hire again! Say no to the right thing as they will do the wrong thing!

Your question is impossible to answer unless each hiring manager and RSD for every open position were polled. Fact is, every territory filled was different; some DMs hired the very best candidate according to their opinon for each available position, regardless of experience in Neuro/ Abilify/ whatever. Some DMs hired all previous BMS reps, some hired from Wyeth, it was really just all over the place. Looking back, the process was disorganized and felt chaotic. It was full of anxiety for anyone interviewing...even people that were hired were totally freaked out by the process.

Otsuka was an is a small company without a lot of standard processes. Sorry you are bitter and feel like you wasted your time in the interview process. It wasn't perfect, it was make-shift. You went for it, you didn't get it, you won't ever know why- so screw it.

Important information for anyone considering Otsuka

Please see the post from March 9 that you can access by searching "Samsca" and looking under the "Interview Questions" thread. It has important warnings that you should read. Best of luck.
