Was in a s.cntr the other day and noticed the mat. mgr. correct an arthrex order by changing everything over to peek? This is after noticing those peek tip swivelocks going back to all peek. What a joke, you try copying Milagro and this is what we end up with? Now, we are all set to drop prices to compete once more b/c you had bad plla and btcp (wtf??)..Peek is solid and proven, but you didn't have to sell your Milagro knock off like it was going to change the world.

Anyone else have any ideas why/where entire hospitals are going back to Peek? (I'm in the great n.best!)

Your post is incoherent. Many surgical centers/hospitals use peek to save on cost. Not the best option for patient but it's a financial reality. Um...does that answer your question?

Arthrex sell anchors in metal, peek, bio-absorbable, and bio-composite. Bio-composite being the best option for patient as the anchors have the best re-absorption to bone characteristics but are more expensive due to the manufacturing process and handling characteristics. Bio-composites have to be shipped overnight in coolers and stored in a temperature controlled environment (can't leave in your trunk).

i think my I.Q just dropped after reading your attempt to put a thought together. If Arthrex keeps hiring idiots like you than PEEK material should be the least of their concerns.

Arthrex is going back peek (all of their p.locks and s.locks have peek tips) bc they screwed up when they tried to go bio-composite. Their bio-c caused cysts and they claimed it was due to mechanical rotation of the humeral head/rotator cuff (Yep, they made a lot of you drink the kool aid), but how come people got cysts in acl repairs as well?

Also, as far as reabsorbtion...Mitek remains the only sports med company with a bio-composite(Milagro) that actually absorbs a high percentage of the time. Just ask the arthrex rep about that when they've seen fully intact anchors/screws that were implanted 3 yrs. prior to the revision.

    Just telling the truth...

My docs have virtually no issue or revision issues with Artrxex BC's. We drove Mitek out of our area 5 years ago (major city) hardly a peep since. The reps call in the sticks now until we take that over as well. Mitek will never be or catch Arthrex ever, as long as Reinhold is at the reigns. Mitek is just another J&J pimple.

I would love for you to produce the study that backs this statement up?

Exactly...The more Reinhold is at the reigns, the more he jerks around the distributors (Hence: less profit/bonus per distributor, buy a mobile lab or we'll find another distributor, make your employees W-2, hire managers, buy more consultants, etc.) the less money there is for the REPS. This is the truth, just ask your local Arthrex distributor/arthrex rep if you have the guts to do so.

I definitely don't see anyone catching Arthrex , but Arthrex has also turned into their own worst enemy and now they are lacking new innovation (which is what Reinhold hangs his hat on). How are they lacking new innovation? Easy, they don't have anything more to copy/update in sports medicine. This is also why you haven't heard of them having a lawsuit in a while (suture taks, retro button, etc.)...It's a sad reality, but this is why Arthrex is flirting w/the total jt., trauma, distal radius idea.

Also, how hard is it to sell against or crush Mitek when you're dropping new innovation (quality or not) faster than your own reps can keep up with?

Bottom line, it's easy to produce and drop massive amounts of new updated/innovation when you're a private company. However, where do you go when the well dries up?
I'm a former Arthrex rep (06-10) and had a blast, but the well is drying up and for those of you who came in prior to 2007 know exactly what I'm talking about. (i.e. sales growth below 30% @Arthrex was once a joke....)

Also, as BC's giving patients cyst's...shit happens. I will also say that I've seen my fare share of absorbables that didn't absorb, and that's pretty much where the selling starts.

    Good Luck

You have some very good points, but where else do you go? The competition doesn't have a complete bag to sell other than maybe smith nephew. How many times do we need to reinvent the wheel? If we jumped ship, then we go direct taking an even bigger pay cut. The total joint market is dead with the ridiculous capitated pricing matrix as the reps are counting on tripling the cases just to make what they did 3 years ago. Spine is going to get slaughtered this year cutting sales by 50%. I'm one of those that started well before 2007 and know exactly what you mean about making some serious cash. Yes, my paychecks have gone down every year, but it could be worse like my competitors.
