I am seeking advice/true opinions on the TDR position for surgical device sales. Any insight into the REAL income opportunities, training program and corporate culture would be appreciated. I have 10+ yrs successful B2B experience along with another 3 yrs. OR based medical device sales. Looking for larger organization to have longer term personal growth and leading edge products to sell. Thoughts???

Stay away. Bad company, poor management, bad systems, terrible support, bad comp.

10 years of experience plus 3 years of device? Any you are seriously considering a TDR gig? Either you suck or your options are severely limited. A TDR role is a subordinate position with the idea that you are not tied to that particular market and you will go do their bidding all over the region and/or area. You have a fixed salary with zero commissions and you are someone's bitch with no control over the territory or your compensation. You would learn a lot but you'd hate it.

It's a good role for someone new to device arena or with less experience but as an RM here, I wouldn't hire you. You would be too frustrated and quit within 6 months, if not less.

Good position to start your Medical Sales career, company car, 100,000 guaranteed. I started in this position and was promoted in a year to a full line rep. Had to move though which sucks. With your experience, I agree with the last post...do not settle for this job.

Agreed, good opportunity for a newer rep but not so much for someone as seasoned as you.

Your a fucking idiot. "You would be too frustrated and quit within 6 months, in not less" Your an RM with that attitude. They would quit beacuse your a fucking asshole and another reason why the division is a nightmare to work for in the first place.

Ok Sparky, take it down a notch. Would you take this job? I wouldn't want to be someone's lackey, not knowing where I might end up. There aren't any assurances that you'll be taking over the territory you're working with.

This position is very intriguing to me. If you do get a territory outside of where you worked they would pay for your move correct? I think this sounds like a great opportunity for someone to learn the ropes.

No, Covidien does not typically pay relocation packages unless you are moving for a promotion. TDR to full line rep is not considered a payable relacation.
