Yes. Heard similar information. Layoffs are very commonplace in pharma and have become the norm. The market we are in is also crowded and managed care is tightening the clamps. I knew the ride would soon be over, just not this soon.

Otsuka has an ipo to generate revenue for the company. As his letter states the revenue will be to increase Otsuka presence worldwide, amongst other things.
From a business standpoint buying out another pharma company would make sense.
Currently, the Japanese have been in a buying mood with Astellas, Sunovion buying Seprocor, Diaynkp Sankyo (Millenium) to name a few.

Looking at these posts I am so relieved to have this behind us. Abilify Is the only Atypical growing right now. I am really happy that I made the move here. Was nervous at first but now I know I made the right choice. Thanks to our leadership for the opportunity

Yup and what does the 'leadership' have for 2015 when Abilify goes off patent? An 80% drop in sales to generics is the future. What's the esteemed leadership have in the pipeline? Claiming success for the work done by others from years past hardly makes for great leadership.Abilify performed long before Altmeyer and Taro showed up its been on autopilot to success despite these guys. My prediction... Altmeyer and the rest of his 'team' will take off before 2015 and the low hanging Abilify fruit is gone.
