Is it me or the general economic and state of health care?

I was laid-off about eight months ago and am having one heck of time finding employment in managed care with device or pharma.

    Yes, I know, network,network,network.

I have had some meaningful and promising interview, but no offers.

Right place, wrong time, not enough, too much experience. Right background, wrong geography.

Plus it takes months for the companies to make a decision.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

A Managed Care Account Manager job in pharma is a waste of time. No new products coming out, no new data coming out and many of the accounts just don't see the value of a relationship unless you have a contract (which the number of contracts is shrinking too). That's why everyone is doing "needs assessments" with their customers which is driving the health plans nuts. Besides lowering the price of drugs, pharma has nothing to offer health plans to help their business. The customers have moved on, pharma just doesn't know it yet. That's why the number of RAMs is shrinking. Just like reps, there are too many RAMs out there.

    Exactly.

The industry is dying; it is on life support.

Look OUT of the field for more opportunities.

    Good luck!
