Can anyone tell me what the differences are between Dentsply's three implant brands and Astra Tech's three brands? Does the addition of Astra's implant allow Dentsply to satisfy more dentists or address a wider range of patients (if so why?). Will the broader set of products provide any real advantages to the sales rep or do they just add duplication to their product line?
All it will do is add to Dentsply's existing customer base. The Astra implant is #3 in the market so Dentsply is just buying entry to their customers and their referral base to sell more of their regen and sundry items.
I thought 3i was #3? Doesn't it go like this? 1. Straumann 2. Nobel 3. 3i 4. Astra 5. Zimmer 6. Implant Direct, Biohorizons etc....
In the US market, that would be the correct order. Except for one thing, keep in mind that Astra offers Atlantis. If you were to eliminate the Atlantis sales, Astra might be 5. Woldwide market, simply flip 3i and Astra, but again, Atlantis might be pushing them over that 3 mark.
Considering total company market share, globally it's: 1. Nobel Biocare 2. Straumann 3. Astra Tech 4. Biomet 3i 5. Zimmer 6. Dentsply 7. everyone else
Sorry Nobel poster, you guys are now #2 worldwide. I forgot to ask last time, how long did it take for that bruise to heal when you fell from that horse?
