That haymaker he threw on Kenny Frease in today's B-ball game against Xavier was 1st degree assault. Only suspending him is a mockery of justice. IMO Cincy needs to expel him forthwith and a judge needs to ask him "How do you plead?". That was a vicious right cross. That bullshit is totally uncalled for in college B-ball. No more hand slaps. Send him back to hang with the boyz.
Picture yourself in a schoolyard B-ball game. Some heated words are exchanged. Some guy from left field lands a blow and splits open a gash on the side of your face requiring sutures. Would that be an arrestable offense?
I read that the prosecutor in Ohio is considering charges against Yates. DUH??? He should have already been arrested in a society that claims 'equality under the law'. But those of us who have been around for awhile know that's all bullshit anyway. The schools will lie to your kids about how this country is run. But don't you lie to 'em. You're all they got to form a healthy and accurate appraisal of reality. Be honest w/ your kids even if they develop some healthy cynicism in the process.
In all honest what really should happen is that they should pull Gates scholarship and kick him out of school. You need to make an example of him. The other kids might think twice before going thug on somebody next time.
These universities do as little as possible to these athletes who commit open crimes right on TV seen by everyone. Yates only got a 6 game suspension by Cincy for committing felony assault on the basketball court. Remember a few years ago when that Oregon football player openly assaulted a Boise player on the football field after the game? He played again that year - never charged with a crime either. But if you were a fan in the stands and assaulted a fan of another team - you would get taken to jail immediately no questions asked. Two separate sets of laws in America. One for athletes, cops, politicians, Wall Street bankers...... and one for everyone else.
This is the same school, that used to employ one of the biggest dirt-bags in college sports (next to Bill Frieder and Steve Fisher), Bob Huggins. They won't do a god-damned thing. Oh, and Cincinnati(America's biggest hick town), is a shithole.
Yancy is a perfect example of how you can take a thug out of the ghetto but you can't take the ghetto out of the thug. Yes he should be criminally charged but his type will get in more trouble multiple times after the protection of playing basketball is over and he will end up doing time anyway.
Is the Cinncinnati DA still reviewing the tape (evidence) that clearly shows Yancy Gates striking a player on the opposing team with a closed fist resulting in a bleeding gash on the side of the victim's face??? How many times does the DA have to review it before he says the obvious: "That man just committed a crime"? If you were up in the stands watching the Cinncinnati-Xavier game and got into a verbal argument with a fan of the opposing team - and you layed some whoop-ass on the side of his face - do you think the DA would still be reviewing the evidence - or do you think some Cinncinnati cop would have dragged your ass off to jail prior to the final buzzer? Nothing pisses me off more than 'inequality under the law'.
Here's the evidence. It is what it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnAkbF0wea8&feature=youtu.be How could that be called anything other than "criminal assault"? Is the prosecutor protecting criminals now?
Yep. The DA in Hamilton County, Ohio passed on prosecuting Yancy Gates. He said that the victim Kenny Frease made up with Yancy!!! HAH! So could an ordinary citizen coldcock a spectator in the stands resulting in a gash on his cheekbone and would the DA refuse to prosecute? Of course not. If you pulled that shit you would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Quite possibly it would be charged as a felony assault. Proof of your double set of laws in America. The spoiled ass ball players can commit violations of the black letter law on VIDEO TAPE before the whole world and no action from the prosecutor. Someone please explain. How are we any different from a banana republic?
