The notorious RH is at it again. This time his rage is turned toward one of the nicest people at Convatec. She has done nothing but bust her butt for him and the company. Keep your chin up girl!

Be heartened, the RSM who just about destroyed the viability and morale of the NYC region was recently demoted---perhaps your guy may be next? Maybe Skillman is waking up to the damage terrible RSMs can cause? Especially when sales dollars and valuable TMs are are lost. Yes, maybe those in Skillman are actually growing concerned over rampant turnover.

So what happened to the 15 year vet SM that worked for KG in north jersey that was recently let go? I have her resume which looks really solid but there is a general belief that company's don't let there best people go? Never worked for CT so I don't understand it's culture.

Convatec, esp during the past few years, has been all too happy letting tenured reps go--large base salaries were common with tenured reps, and new equity capital ownership is all about profits and paying less for sales talent. Many fine TMs left either because of persecution, inept leadership--but especially because unattainable quotas ended attractive bonuses. Too many incompetent and stupid RSMs (some recently promoted with no mgmt skills) also eased the exodus. Who can work for a sales manager too dumb to listen to other ideas and sadly, many of these RSMs alienated their TMs causing them to hate and leave Convatec. SM, I hear, was a very good TM, winning maybe 3 CD awards and was TM of the Year once, I believe, too. Was KG the manager who foced SM out? Of late, TMs who've stumbled with their sales were targeted for removal. Convatec's new market strategy has failed miserably as it is a fact large chunks of market share have gone away. When experienced reps leave, there is a void as customer relationships are severed making it easy for the competition to steal business. New leadership at Convatec was too dumb to have realized the strength of this company was its tenured, experienced, and feared sales force. Convatec, though, has not always dismissed their best people--but they've created an environment that forced the best to flee, and they are still leaving.

She was apparently scapegoated by inept management. It is pathetic and shameful that after 15 years of productive service something like this happens to a dedicated hard working employee like SM. But like the saying goes what comes around goes around.

I heard about the NYC RSM being demoted--but still works here as a TM!?! Something like 10 or more TMs fled the region (some excellent TMs in that bunch), or were fired. And, wound and skin care sales losses were in the millions. Why did Skillman let someone so poorly suited for management last so long in this position? and the reward is to continue as a TM? Something screwy here. But other poor and mean-spirited managers are still flourishing here so we have to assume Skillman just doesn't care about you. At least when BMS was the boss there was an effort to make sure people were not overtly abused as has been the case since divestiture. This company cares nothing for morale, and many companies are the same as ConvaTec. But good firms do exist and I am joining one of them shortly (at least I hope the decency I've seen here interviewing and researching this place are genuine and real). Thank God I'm outta here.

Good post describing a terrible pattern at convatec that actually surfaced before BMS sold us 3 years ago. A number of RSMs have been exposed on this board, though some of them I do not know that well. Infamy has been attached to RH, KG (demoted, finally), EF of negative pressure fame when he was an RSM, and the most popular, MD

It was apparent that some RSMs, some of these for sure, were allowed to burn and turn TMs as upper management looked the other way. The cost of constantly training new TMs is economic suicide and when you consider the loss of business due to constant TM turnover, you have the modern convatec--a money loser, no morale, and extremely high levels of turnover. A shell of a company that was once the class of this industry.

Even a poorly run company (and convatec is below "poor" status) would have investigated abuses, turnover, and why so many long tenured and multiple CD and President's Club TMs are all gone, and gone so quickly. Convatec is a business tragedy with upper mgmt maybe just getting it that changes need to be made to improve field sales management. Maybe it's too late.

Never having worked for the NEW Convatec, you wouldn't understand. Whether an excellent or mediocre sales rep, the NEW convatec forced so many of us out. Either through mirco managing, unattainable quotas, or a myriad of other abusive techniques, we were forced out. The north Jersey rep most likely reached an age that the NEW Convatec management deemed expendable. Her excellent career results no longer justified her salary. The NEW Convatec wants young reps more easily burned and turned, hired on the cheap...dumb, naive recruits not familiar with the OLD, once wonderful Convatec long dead and buried by the NEW owners. The foreign vulture capitalist overseers can depend on a glorious buffoon known as Popeye to make sure every penny of profit is squeezed out of the marrow of every single Convatec employee. See all those job posts for Burn Specialists? There used to be a load of them 5 years ago--all driven away or fired by the dummies running Convatec into ruin. The new crop of Burn specialists being hired now are in for a fun time...Ho Ho Ho

Where have all the ex Convatec people gone? they've gone mostly to competitors now feasting on Convatec business that the new TMs can't manage to keep. Many of the tenured TMs took their skills and relationships to better wound care companies and Convatec is now their lawful prey. When I left Convatec in late 2010 I went into acute care Lab sales, so I don't compete against convatec. But I continue to hear about large chunks of convatec business being lost at the hospitals I call on and I love hearing this! Makes me believe even more strongly in a just God. In fact, I just learned about a mega dollar book of Convatec business going bye bye real soon. If I had even a speck of respect for this company I'd drop a dime and warn the RSM. What a nasty surprise when they find out about this conversion. Too bad the TM will probably lose his/her job with this loss. The NEW Convatec policy is always to punish and fire the TM when huge accounts are lost. There will be no mercy shown this poor wretch from the RSM and the ignoble scoundrels navigating the Skillman ship. Watch for the new job posting on Convatec.com real soon.

Sad. Heard the manager lost all of her reps before being dumped back into a territory. She was known for tormenting and abusing the reps. The New Jersey rep was yet another one of her victims

Very true. Some of Convatec's BEST Territory Managers left during her reign. I think they included SM, KK, and LS. Is WK gone, too? Who else fled or was fired? Others were put on plan and fired or even, I heard, transfered to another convatec division. This RSM ruined the Empire Region losing huge chunks of business and was still allowed to move to a TM position. And yet she ruined or altered so many careers. No wonder this company is a mess when upper management allows this kind of abuse to flourish without stepping in to stop it. I guess her bosses thought she was just perfect in her role--until the business went away. Pathetic what happened in NY--all condoned, apparently, by the AVP and Skillman. Who was the AVP? DP?

Why is it that Convatec rarely punishes RSMs who manage to lose their best TMs thus crippling sales growth? Is upper management so completely blind (or stupid?) to the fact that a disturbing number of their RSMs have managed to hamper and destroy the sales efforts of Convatec America by scaring away or firing some of their best field sales people? Some of these managers have even been promoted over the years while one was only demoted. What really happened to the once renowned NYC Region? Why did senior management combine this Region with a neighboring Region--after sales losses exceeded several million dollars--INSTEAD of addressing the issues that lead to this Region's demise?

Shameful and sadistic abuse never addressed properly by Skillman management only leads to even more abuse...and an ever growing erosion of skilled personnel, market share, and morale.
