Why do they delete any post that mentions the Market Access team in a negative light? What are they trying to hide? Does it make the Market Access leader LH look bad, since the team is not doing anything positive. Just find it odd that they are so afraid to have any comments made about them.

You know what's ironic? LH was a DIRECTOR AT THE MASSACHUSETTS BLUES PLAN, and yet, she's had ZERO impact on getting us in-network at Blues plans; we're getting shut down left and right....

Little late to be thinking about market access now; Genomic Health, Myriad, Prometheus all have multiple contracts with Blues plans. What are we offering that those plans can't live without, or get somewhere else already? Dark days without in-network status - can't wait to hear what the latest excuses will be for why we aren't gaining traction...

managed care at genoptix has always been a joke...genoptix pissed off so many top execs at the various payors that no one will contract

Speaking as one of those managed care people, I can vouch for that! Genoptix called me a few months ago, and I had to tell the guy that there were no medically necessary tests being offered by Genoptix that we weren't getting from currently contracted labs. And unless you're a sole source provider of medically necessary tests (e.g. Genomic Health), insurance plans have no interest in bringing you in. It's sad that your execs are only now realizing the worth of reaching out to the insurance companies, given that we're the ones paying the bills.

Give me a break, "you got a call". Why would anyone from the insurance industry be on these boards? Go troll on another board.

Not buying "the call" post. I do, however, buy your frustration with market access.

Busting it all day and doing your best to be hampered by a managed care market decision is zero fun or compensation. However, the access teams have the same data and competition faced in the field. The same obstacles, different market.

Market access is - and - always will be an easy target when chips are down. Market access wins are tough in the majority of geographies and have changed as much as the industry itself. The bureaucracy is overwhelming.

CEOs and Sr. leadership want to be rich(er), but have little interest or desire to invest in managed care. The previous poster was correct. They pay the bills. Companies more often than not put the cart before the horse related to science and working with the payers.

I have personally seen managed care professionals over-sell their relationships. Because you know a MCO medical director or hospital executive, it does not mean they are going to roll out new technologies to providers and 1mm patients because of statistical value. Those days ended about 20 years ago. Similar to field access.

I agree with the premise of your post. Overall, I think that the Market Access team members as a whole are very diligent and worthy. The issue is that Genoptix Sr. Leadership tried to bypass Managed Care payers for as long as possible and as a result the Genoptix policies have alienated most plans. Then several years ago, Geoptix hired a Director of Managed Care who tried to force contracts down the throats os several plans. So much so that even though Genoptix has a contract with Humana, the tactics used to get the contract lead Humana to despise Genoptix.

Now the Market Access team is lead by an individual from Novartis who is unworthy of the position. She is bigotted and hateful. But then again she is building up some serious karma for herself. Further, she is trying to drive business into plans that have no need for Genoptix and Genoptix is unyielding on price, so it makes it even more difficult to gain contracts.

All in all the efforts of the Market Access team will lead to little or no results and instead of Management being held accountable, they will place blame and retribution on the Market Access Account Execs. I wish you all well, this will not end positively for Genoptix.
