in medical devices, going to honolulu, oahu, call mainly on Optometrists ODs some Ophthalmologists MDs. I wear suit and Ties all over south west but heard that is a red flag in hawaii. any suggestions. suit with no tie? slacks and shirt, no tie and no jacket? Dress slacks with a tucked in polo? khakis and an untucked polo? dress slacks and an aloha shirt? any medical reps that sell in hawaii please throw me some ideas.
Wear a suit and tie in Hawaii and you may as well wear a sign saying "Mainlander" Casual cuts it ... dress slacks, aloha shirt, even no tie/jacket. From friends who have worked in Hawaii, there is a resistance from customers there when folks from the mainland come in for a week or two to do business and fly back; they get the feeling they are being used ... you'll need to prove your worth vs local reps.
