Salary is initially $80,750 and won’t go up all that much higher.
Most reps get a Ford Fusion. I road in one of the new ones last month and it's a damn shoe box!
As far as the products go, that all depends on what job you're going after. More than likely you're trying to get one of the "Pyxis Speciality Rep" positions. In that case you'll be selling Perioperative, Dispensing, and Point of Care P&S's.
A word of advice though.......RUN, and I do mean RUN!!!!! Run away from this position as fast as humanly possible!!!! This is still considered a pilot program that we've been toying around with for 2 years now. Despite all the field managers strongly disagreeing with even creating these spots in the first place, our idiot director's went ahead and created them anyway. It has been nothing but an ENORMUS let down that has cost us MILLIONS!!! The entire division in circling the drain!!!! The reason is that you'll be trying to sell VERY expensive niche products and services to these mom & pop "hospitals" that are as far out in the freaking sticks as humanly possible, that wouldn’t buy anything Pyxis related in a million years!!! They just DO NOT have the need, the volume, and especially, the money to purchase ANYTHING Pyxis related. Hell, most of these places have either already filed for bankruptcy, are about to file, are about to be bought, or about to close their doors.

So I can promise you that these positions will all be eliminated by EOY 2013!!!! RUN!!!!!

This company is a nightmare. The quotas are unattainable, they will shroud you with paperwork and you will make no money. A third of the company is on a PIP for not hitting quota, yet on a good year, 2 people in the entire division make quota. Do yourself a favor and run away from this

The Surgical Division of procedural solutions sells some of the most interesting products. You've got Chloraprep which has basically become the industry standard for infection prevention prior to surgery and a solid line of hand preps, surgical clippers, prep trays, and scrubbrushes. They most recently combined the minimally invasive division (V. Mueller and Snowden Pencer) and infection prevention divisions together to create this hybrid role to help create a more singular point of contact in the OR. So not only are you selling advanced surgical instrumentation and disposables, but also a complete line of infection prevention products.

The vascular division of procedural solutions also has some very interesting products, including the smaller sized chloraprep applicators as well as a very lucrative new needleless IV connector.

CareFusion as a whole has many different business units so you need to be more explicit about the position you are looking at.

They do set some pretty high quotas, but what med tech company doesn't.

Only two vascular reps made quota for 2012, No mgrs or VPs made quota either.

Anyone in the Surgical Instrument division that can chime in? How are the V.Muller and Snowden Pencer products perceived? Recruiter is saying mid 60's and 55,000 in Commission. How is it working for this division? Longevity?

There was a merger of the Snowden and Chloraprep sales forces in November 2011. Thirty percent of the sales force was laid off. Since then, most of the original Snowden reps have left. Some of their own fruition, some forced out. As far as longevity, if this is what you're looking for this is not for you. The upper execs are Cardinal castoffs who have no clue as to what we are even selling. Don't let them fool you with at plan you make... The truth is only 2 out of 81 surgical reps made plan last year. The same is true for the vascular division. Ask for documentation.

I am from the west coast but believe he went to work for Medtronic. Ask to see year end territory ranking with percent to quota. If all is legit, that should be no problem. Then ask to see YTD territory rankings. If the say they can't, what does that tell you.

thanks for the info. Ill make sure to ask. The recruiter stated surgical is mid 60's base plus 50k to 60k commission at plan. sounds like the sales force is having a hard time hitting quota though. Does this sound right?

That is correct. You probably will make 25K-30K in commission annually.
