Why is it that no one in Clayton is willing to recognize the talent in Melville? We are not the enemy and can be a great asset if we were used properly.

If you're really with Talecris at Melville and you really expect this post (or any other post on CP) to generate rational discourse, then you have answered your own question.

Melville and talent are just 2 things that do not go together!

Wake up my friend. Without Melville, Talecris runs in the red. Melville IS EBIDTA!! Melville does it better, faster, and with a lot less people and has a stellar regulatory record. Unlike Clayton which is a three legged horse always trying to catch up and always running from the FDA.

Melville has been on the selling block going back to the CSL deal which failed. Melville was disposable when the CSL buy out was contemplated, and the same goes now with Grifols. Potential buyers have and continue to look at the Melville facility since the capacity is not needed with the combined companies.

Having visited Melville and having met with most of the senior staff we were impressed but left wondering why current and previous owners never invested in upgrades that would have rendered the facility more attractive for acquisition. The facilty has a very nice fill and finish suitable for producing clinical lot material, including pre-filled syringes. Upfront processing of frozen plasma has been consistently of high quality and FDA inspections continue to detect no serious concerns. But , as a previous poster lamented, Melville may be seen as expendable with the larger plasma manufacturers, including Grifols. Maybe Some smaller group like Octapharma, Biotest, or Cangene may take interest. Heh?

If I was an employee at Melville I would be holding out hope for a quick and decisive merger so our fate can best be served.

It is well known that we run a tight and high quality operation. New parnets would be in our long term best interests.

I used to work at the Long Island Blood Services side of the Melville facility in the 1980s when it was part of New York Blood Center, and I can personally attest to the high caliber of staff on the blood derivatives manufacturing side of the business. It is hard to imagine that talent is still not there.
