Lunch options (why do I feel like a glorified caterer?)

Of all the crap rules thagt RX&D makes us live by, the worst by far is the "you can no longer feed staff." So now every rep out there is buying either Olive Garden or Chili's because what else are you going to do, walk in carrying a night stick and swat the hand of the 4 fat receptionists that always are in the lunch room a half hour before the docs? So, other than "the Garden" and Chili's, anyone have any suggestions for places that do good "group platters" that don't come off looking like you're feeding 10 people instead of 3?

This job pays decently enough, but I gotta get into a different industry.

If you feel you are caterer it is because U R. As for the Rx&D rules, they are only followed at this low, low level. On the higher levels they are not. Your co will send a bunch of "specialists" to Japan for med conf. with all expenses paid plus bribe of having their spouses, whoever they are, with them. Absolutely against RX&D and med associ. codes of conduct, but no one cares. This is where your co truly uses illegal practices and those "lunches" are just to prove they do follow the rules, if they have to prove it. just read few of the threads here and on USA CF and see what your and other cos are doing. It is a bigtime crime in action. You are just a tiny nobody they use to implement their bigger goals of looting our healthcare system. It is that simply.
Unless you are like them, get out before it is too late for you. Most who work here don't give a shit about this biz's criminal ways and they just participate or look the other way.
If you truly don't have the guts for it, better move on before they do you in. Another alternative is that you go along, milk them for as long as you can while looking for better suited opportunity. Also collect all the evidence you can get your hands on re their illegal, criminal, unethical, immoral practices. These may get important one day. Either you go after their ass or if they go after yours you will have ammo to fight them and win.
Remember these crooks are no freinds of yours or anyone elses except to their kind. So once they don't need you even for few days, your ass will be out. If you have the shit on them, it'll cost them. And cost them a lot if you play your cards right.
Ps: the fact this is the first comment after over 350 visits, tells you only very few are like you. They just go along and carry out the orders without any questions. One day we'll have stronger laws in this country (haven for criminals of all kinds) that will lead to massive whistleblowing on all the crooks. Then those still left with some honesty and integrity will do the right thing. Fuck these bustards and get rewarded in the process. It will be the right thing to do.

I am beginning to think the golden age of pharma is over, trouble is, with 7 years experience at it, it seems like no one wants to even look at me. This is either because the industry has a bad reputation, or they think "this guy only knows the world of pharma sales, which isn't necessarily a translatable skill so why hire him?" Or there is the reputation (deserved in a lot of cases) that pharma reps don't work hard, don't know how to sell, and are only good for spitting out marketing messages and delivering food. I for one am ready to go anywhere else, but I guess I'm a bit trapped by not wanting to take a pay cut (and by the fact I can't even seem to get an interview in any other industry). So I keep at it and keep hoping something will come along and that I won't get laid off in the interim because our newest drug doesn't get NOC or something.

U R trapped as many are because of the "benefits" bigpharmafia provides to their employees. This as result of many things but main being, they are loaded with ill-aquired money that you too bring in via activities legal and illegal ordered done by them. U know the score. With only 7 years around, you have a choice to make., Do you stay or do you go. Simple but complicated. If you have some real talent to sell, good salespersons will always be in demand. While you milk them as they milk rest of us, look around and take your time. If nothing happens they may make it easy for you some day. There is no loyalty on their part so they may just let you go with good package thus close the door of bigpharmafia for you. Then the other door will open for you and so on.
Someone advised here on CP for reps to collect the evidence on their co's dirty biz, thus have good supply of incriminating dirt on them, you can use later when you need it to make a better deal when they just don't need you. In the meantime if we ever get the Canadian version of False Claim Act, that evidence may become pure gold for you. Remember you are nothing to them so you owe them nothing and with evidence you are and will be in the driver's seat.
By the way the big biz in general as all power elite is in charge nowdays but the pendulum must swing back sooner or later. The people always win.
