Saw a sales opening it says requiring 3 years of dental experience. Do they hire reps without dental experience? I've got 3+ years in medical equipment. thanks

Going from Medical sales to dental is like going from College to grade school.

Going from Pharma to dental is like going from high school back to grade school.

Don't go to dental from Medical Sales or Pharma.

"Going from Medical sales to dental is like going from College to grade school."

I believe it would be more like leaving a college or university and getting on the 'special bus' and going back to kindergarten with the other adult retarded persons.

At least you get milk and graham crackers and a nice afternoon nap on your own personal sleepy mat.

RUN don't walk from dental, unless you are desperate and the wolf is at the door. Then, just go rob a couple of old ladies instead.

At least go introduce yourself to some local dentists and see what you're getting yourself into. Notice the grooming habits, body odors, dandruff and nose hairs (and that's just the female dds).

Like getting paid (very little) to flunk high school.

The previous poster is most likely the same jerk, off who was fired from Patterson for not working and now posts smack about the company all day as he waits for his unemployment check.
Dental sales with the right company is a great career. If you are into technology, it's there- cone beam Cat scanners, CAD/Cam, software etc. there are a boat load of surgical and orthodontic companies as well. Dental sales involves a lot of patient interaction usually so the level of clinical expertise can be quite in depth after being in the position for a while. I have been in dental for 10 years and it has provided me with a very good career. I have also worked in pharma that is the most degrading job there is. Also bee in emedical sales industry is driven by insurance and hospital committee which decide on products without the intervention of sales or marketing influences. In addition the recently passed Sunshine act severely limits th marketing and promotional efforts of pharma and medical companies.
This is a career it's not something that defines your life. There are a lot of people who work much harder and make a lot less money than people in dental sales. It's a great often overlooked career. The previous poster is one of the chronic complainers who will not make it regardless where they are working.

How long ago did you get let go from Patterson? Let me guess: never worked Fridays, never learned the products, woke up late every Monday and cut out every day around 2PM.
But it's the company's fault that you didn't mAke any dough?

Wow, you really are touchy about being stuck at PD. I was in pharma and decided to try something new. I did this job and realized it was not worth it even after building up a territory and going off base plan. I then when into medical sales and get more money, no disappearing base, expenses, car allowance, etc.

I take it you are one of the less educated and stuck reps
