Jesus Christ, this recently fired and bitter failed Patterson rep sure has some anger issues! Practicing dentistry without a license? That's a good one. How do you think a doctor learns to use a cone beam scanner or Cad/cam system? It's called training, and there is absolutely no liability in that. Your stupid logic is indicative of why you fail. So if someone is assisting a dentist , I.e a dental assistant, the dental assistant is practicing dentistry? A doctor is liable for everything that happens in his practice its called general supervision. Assistants, trainers, "peddlers" technicians, or repairmen are not going to be sued. You sound like a real idiot, it's no wonder you have decended to pharma sales.

I'm a patient and I go get a crown. The dentist is being trained on how to use software that day and ends up completely paralyzed or brain dead, he can no longer support his family or enjoy life. The patient sues the low income, uninsured, no malpractice carrying Cerec specialist? and just ignores the dentists malpractice insurance carrier, two multi billion dollar corporations, Patterson and Sirona but goes after the trainer? Yep, you are moron PP.

It is funny that these Patterson reps keep bagging on the pharma and medical guys considering pharma reps have a much high base, consistent bonus structure , great benefits, comp car and expense accounts. That is what you dental boys dream of having. Sure the income is somewhat capped around $100k but its consistent throughout the industry. Even if you get
Laid off, you get a fat severance and you immediately get on somewhere else.

What do you get at Patterson? Crappy accounts, crappy base, hopes and dream, and a lot of debt!

No one on this board should have the audacity to try to compare the structure, perks, clinical knowledge , and defeinately income with a good medical rep with a reputable company. You will cry your self to sleep if you truly knew the way those guys live once they figure it out. It isn't 5a-10p on call sales like the horror stories your failed rep buddy tells.

A recruiter friend puts this in all his sales opportunity postings: "Pharma reps need not apply". Or this one: " please, no pharma reps".

I agree. He puts that when recruiting for a medical device position, Not for a dental distributor position. Get your facts straight.

Most serious sales jobs will not consider pharma sales background. Non negotiable. If you he pharma sales anywhere on your CV your done. Whether going to selling medical devices, dental devices, software, professional services when it says pharmacy sales your ass out. That's the reality of it. It's a career killer. On the other hand dental sales is seen as a more LNG term career or transitional. Unlike surgical sales or pharma, you actually have to be able to close a sale. No pods, no formularies just a get it done or get out mentality. This is why many can't hack it and regress to pharma "sales". Gat article below about the curse of being a pharmacy rep.

C'mon! Dental blows and at the end of the day the quality of Life Sucks while
Working at Patterson. You can't argue the facts. And yes, pharma reps make more and have better perks. Sure they bounce around but it is industry standard. Take your stocks, keep em, and move on to collect the next set. Patterson reps either bail early on , stay in the event you got lucky, are too stupid to realize what you did, can't afford to have another 6mo job on the résumé, or sometimes they may like what they do.

I just had a ride along with a dental rep that is lookin to go into device. Guy was doing really well and only pulling in $85-90k a year! Brutal! I'd take a pharma gig over dental any day! Save the whole " you have to be a closer" speal for your managers next field ride. What you mean is "you have to be an idiot" to work as hard as
You do and make that kind of coin.

So what does it take to work at Patterson make $50k base for two years and then get shit canned like you did? Does that take a certain skill? Why do you care so much about a career others are involved in? Are you some sort of a mentally disabled guy who is obsessed with your past? Live your dream in your pharmaceutical career and let people live. Definitely something wrong with you.

To answer your question, All it takes is getting hired to consistently make $50k a year or Walmart night shift manager money. I really don't care about you, patterrson or anyone that works here for that matter and you assume everyone that was smart enough to leave was fired More reps quit this shit hole than get fired. You also assume I am in pharma, which I will never do. Although if I were a dental rep at any capacity I would take the first pharma job offered!

It's funny how you and the other bottom feeders single out pharma reps and they have a much better gig. No matter how you look at it, you would love to have the pay and perks of a pharma job but you are stuck trying to convince yourself you will maybe make $80k in 2-4 years. Great job with perseverance but by the time you make your $80k, inflation has just put you back at your starting point.

Keep working hard pal, you almost have enough down payment for that single wide!

OMG! Once the Sunshine Act goes nationwide and into all sectors, the true sales people will rise above those who get sales by 'buying' their docs lunch.

Yup and the Patterson reps will still make nothing and probably lose most of their accounts.

Yes, the bottom line is sort of important at PDCO and most companies. The co you work doesn't care about making a profit? If so that's something new to me. Yes we give new people accounts that need to be developed. This has worked for Patterson decades as the, company has experienced sales growth for over 150 Years. Though acquisitions we provide addition opportunity to earn and be promoted. You did not work out at PDCo and that's unfortunate. I don't see how obsessing and posting on the board of a company you have disdain for is not productive nor will itmelpmyour current career if you have one. I'd just move on see,s like you're making the huge money now and that what you wanted. Be glad your no longer at PDCO if it was so terrible.
