I was offered a job with Arthrex recently and considering taking it, however, one of the docs in the area I would cover is related to me. I contacted corporate and they said its no big deal, but I'm still worried. I don't have the cash to hire a lawyer to investigate, but I don't want to get my ass in a sling.

You guys are kidding right. This can cause a lot of issues. You are better off if you have someone else cover him.

 

Bottom line, it's not a legal issue and not a personal issue if you know/learn your craft.

No worries. I'm sleeping with one of my docs. It's great because there are no strings-he's married.

 

Technically, you would have to be an immediate family member such as son, brother, etc. for their to be a problem. Realistically, no one cares. Companies hire doctors children all the time. if the money involved is less than $1m, no one is going to bother to give it a moment's thought.

And, while you may not be an idiot, you have an enormous amount to learn. You'll starve to death if you try to make a living on one doctor's business. You better be able to produce.
