What's happening in Nutley?

Former Roche Molecular Systems employee here. Does anyone know when the last Nutley employees will be moved or fired? Everytime I drive past the Nutley/Cliton campus, I get disgusted at what a great loss it is for the area. Between Totowa, Belleville, and of course Nutley, Roche really left North Jersey in the lurch.

Thanks for looking, but that article was from 2010 when Roche was still claiming that the Nutley/Clifton campus would remain open and retain most of the workers employed there.

A more recent article on NJ.com says that Roche is closing the campus in the next few weeks and that Roche is auctioning off lab equipment from the site:

This article says that Roche planned to vacate by the end of 2013, but it's from January so I'm not sure if the plan is still current: http://www.nj.com/business/index.ssf/2013/01/as_roche_exits_sprawling_nutle.html

There are about 20 employees (and then more contractors) left on the campus for decommissioning. The campus will be cleaned up over the 2 years. Major cleanup activities have been underway for 2 years now. All the labs have been decommissioned (emptied and scrubbed clean). Equipment and supplies have mostly been donated to schools etc. In December the last 200 employees from pRED moved from Building 001 to NYC (29th & 1st Alexandria Center). Due to the large number of contractors etc the cafeteria is still open but stripped down to only 1 hot meal and cold food. (very limited hours). I believe about 9 buildings will be taken down.... essentially leaving 102, 123, 76, 115, 001 and generating (heat etc) buildings. Building 85 was just taken down, others include building 40 and maintenance buildings.

That's very interesting to hear, especially about the cafeteria still being open. The end of an era indeed. Quite sad. Thanks for the update.
