TNS Causes cancer - what's next here?!?

so…..there's no clinical safety data on TNS and now we are being sued. seriously? i didn't think working for SK could get any worse but i guess i shouldn't be surprised. Causing cancer… not preventing it..

Anyone else have accounts calling today about this? the news is out on businesswire.com and our competitors are all over it. so much for waiting to tell people.

 

What's next...a recall?

 

To find the announcement of the law suit, just google hagens berman TNS law suit and the business wire article will be the first result. If any of the alleged facts are true, SkinMedica will be no more. If or when the FDA looks at these alleged violations, they could order a recall and force SM to stop selling all TNS products. You better start looking now because at a minimum, there's big cuts to the budget coming! Just think I all the women who have tried TNS products and had no results. They will be joining the suit real quick! And since that's almost everyone that ever bought that junk, the bad press will be volcanic!!

 

Why was this law suit started. The facility is an FDA approved facility for growing skin. The process has been used for over 20 years. There is no way that TNS causes cancer. It grows new skin for goodness sake. Only one neonatal foreskin was donated. All it is is cells and cytokines.....that grow skin and happen to build collagen. The product does work. It's amazing. I am a Doctor who just happens to use it. I have researched the product and am not afraid of the claims. Anyone can sue out there today for anything. SKM TNS has been out for over 10 years and was a pharmaceutical company that know the rules. It is cosmeceuticals but I am sure they did what they had to do for safety when making the product. If it is safe to use for skin graphs than it is safe to put on your skin. Makes no sense to me. Good luck Allergan. It looks like you are the target of something larger than TNS!

 

Just wondering what kind of consumer would make a class action lawsuit against SKM and TNS. It's an amazing product. It was probably all of the OGAGI reps that were laid off last year or all of the competition that couldn't sell their crap so instead joined forces to tarnish SKM reputation. This law suit is ridiculous and a waste of tax payers money. I can't believe that someone would go after cosmeceutical products that are applied topically and are not pharmaceutical products. Cosmeceuticals do not require FDA approval. What a joke. Someone wanted to get to Allergan for dominating the toxin and filler market and maybe the only way is to go after SKM. Interesting to see how this will pan out. It could take years to settle.

"Cosmeceuticals don't need FDA approval". Did you even read the press release dumbass? The allegations claim TNS is an active ingredient that requires or should require proper safety and efficacy studies AND thus FDA approval. Obagi reps? Are you even of this planet? How would Obagi reps have anything to do with this very serious issue? And the capper of them all that opened up this morons rant above, "TNS, it's an AMAZING product." Traditional SM airhead comment! There are 100 times more TNS buyers that want their money back than there are people who say its "amazing". Who do you think wrote the press release? The law firm handling the ridiculous complaint. Of course that's why it's skewed. TNS has an excellent safety record and it works. This lawsuit will go away, trust me.

 

Just FYI, this idiot isn't a SKM employee. Just one that happens to understand the process and loves the product. It was a class action lawsuit by consumers, so anyone could have started it and can be part of it if they have ever used TNS. Most people that only buy one bottle will not see the benefit and claim that it doesn't work. That would probably be the majority of the consumers that piggy back on this law suit. the process of acquiring the growth factors is safe and approved by the FDA. So I am not a moron for saying that it doesn't need FDA approval to sell TNS because it doesn't. The product have been used since 2000 and is safe. This law suit has no grounds and will go away. What a joke and waste of money! You are the uneducated moron, not me loser!

 

I have to tell you, I think this is complete BS. I have used TNS since 2005 in my practice which at that time was hospital based and this product was sold by Skinmedica only and to doctors offices. You could not purchase it on the web. It was an amazing product. We used it on 2nd and 3rd degree burns on patients from the emergency room. I also did an article with Dr. Fitzpatrick who is the founder of this product who would never put anything out there that would hurt a patient or stimulate cancer cells. I guess what I am trying to say is I am really angry that this class action is being brought up. I used this product for 9 years along side my patients some with extensive photo damage and they didn't have squamous cell and basal cells popping up left and right, it was actually the opposite. So, you stupid people following suit, the only people making money is the lawyers. These patients will get a lousy $25.00 and if you purchase your products off the internet.........we'll shame on you. Go to your doctor!

 

No results......your funny!!!!!! You would have to be a complete idiot to use this product wrong for you to get "no" results. But, it happens when you purchase your products off the internet and not from a Professional!

 

SO just put a "warning" label on it like everything else in this country. From what we keep hearing, what doesn't cause cancer? Your hairdryer cord, clipboard, cellphone, cigarette ...etc can cause cancer.

 

It's true the class action will result in little money for those who join the suit, but the point of class action suits is to right a wrong done to a massive amount of people. The courts will decide who's right but the court would have already thrown out the suit if they found the allegations absurd. I do have a question that I think is fair. Do you think a patient would buy TNS if you told them no one sees results after just one purchase? Talk about defeating your own argument! Typical SM moronic reply.

 

So sorry, I meant to say that it clinical trials, results were seen after 12 weeks and that would mean that you would need to use two bottles to receive the same results as seen in clinical trials. Obviously the more damage that you have, the longer you need to use the product. It took a long time to get wrinkles and results do not happen over time. It will take at least 3 months to use a clinical change and that will mean 2 bottles moron!

 

I mean results do not happen over night, sorry. This is a products that you will have to use for the rest of your life and if you think one bottle is enough to see a big difference you are so wrong. You will see a change for sure within the use of the first bottle but will see better results over time. You didn't get your wrinkles over night and no product works over night. It takes time. I am a doctor who has sold this product since 2003 and have seen huge changes in my patients skin. I agree that it is a shame that this law suit was created. No doubt this will hurt my business, even if it is thrown out.

Theirs is a specious and unimpressive argument. Of course growth factors are involved in cancer, because cells are involved in cancer. There are millions of other chemicals involved as well. Every essential human nutrient is involved. it would be like saying protein increases cancer risk because tumors use protein to build cells. Or vitamin A, B, C, D, E, and/or any other biochemical you might imagine. All are necessary for cancer growth. But necessary, or even helpful, does not equal causation.

The authors of this complaint injudiciously misapprehend the science of growth factors (GF’s). “They have the ability to initiate mitosis” sounds scary, but mitosis is simply about tissues maintaining themselves by replacing old or dead cells with new ones through cell division. That’s not cancer, it is the very basis of life for multicellular organisms. The statement the growth factors increase the risk of cancer is simply unsupported by the knowledge base in cell biology. Cancer cells may be opportunistic and may utilize growth factors, just as they utilize nutrients and anything else they need to accomplish their agenda. GF’s are not carcinogenic, by any standard definition. These people have their cell biochemistry wrong. They need to talk to someone who understands the science.

All-in-all this complaint demonstrates all the characteristics of a shakedown suit. No injuries, and nothing upon which to even speculate injury. In this type of class action, the only financial beneficiaries are the attorneys, not the plaintiffs in fact. The persons in the class may receive a few pennies. The firm representing the class in this case appears to be such a firm.
Purported science that is not science at all, and is easily refuted by anyone with actual knowledge of the science.

agreed nonsense - but the dye is cast. Want to know how it affects us, just see the bad press on chemical spfs a year or so ago, even though that data was proven incorrect.

VEGFs in TNS is what gives this thing a leg to stand on; their receptors are in tumour formations.

 

As a cancer survivor - a physician or " skin care" provider would be negligent to suggest this non- scientific product for patients. Foolish people that are ill - informed, what a marketing show this company has put on. Severely disappointed in lack of evidence and concerned for those not just wasting money but exacerbating a seriously fatal condition. Shame on you!

 

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. SKM has years of research on the growth factors found in TNS. Why don't you read the data before you post nonsense.

 

Post the research. All my doctor could find was a lousy study gone by SM on 4 patients. Not on intact skin.
