The total joint products are pretty good, but we have ZERO fucking training on anything - as always. Get in a convo with a doc and most can't hold their own. For those lucky enough to get a case, those go south when the rep cant troubleshoot for shit. A total joint training meeting once in a while isn't going to make an impact. And who the fuck has the time to go to Naples for training anyway? We have 6 quotas we have to meet and I get several calls each day about something being on backorder and required for the next day. I spend most of my time running around getting this shit together instead of selling.
don't worry, they are interviewing candidates to take care of the total joint portfolio for you. Industry veterans who will come over and for a nice guarantee and non-compete on the back end, bring thier biggest surgeons who don't need you to trouble shoot for them. Enjoy the six quotas...you won't be getting a seventh
I really doubt they are bringing over good industry veterans. Why would anyone want to jump from one of the big boys to have a shoulder, Uni, and knee? No hip or knee revision system equals a loss of cases for good reps with high volume surgeons. I would assume theses industry veterans are some washed up guys with a few relationships looking for a guarantee.
Most of the Arthrex guys I see out there now are young, inexperienced with little to no training on what they have NOW. I see them running in and out of OR arms full of boxes because of backorders or trying to get around their implant carrying charges Regarding hiring veterans,,,why would they come to Arthrex? The portfolio isn't very deep and then you have to pressure from: Competitors: They are very good and your taking food off their table. Hospitals: Face it, Arthrex is know to be expensive and I doubt Materials will welcome new players without "it being in the system" Doctors: Most right now are content with what they are using now. They have enough to deal with than pushing for a new untried, limited, perhaps expensive system. That's before you even think about the inexperience sports med rep who thinks they can to a total joint leading him though a case. Arthrex: do they even have enough instruments? Implants? Will that product manager drive you apeshit crazy with calls. This will be interesting to watch.
