Ex Intervet here - Not sure where you got the "intervet hangover" concept. Those of us who worked at Intervet saw little of what you describe. Took a while for us to buy into the leadership, but CR was exemplary in motivating the sales team and making us proud to be there. JJ was a fantastic listener and always accessible. And long term thinking? We were paid bonus yearly - and our annual performance was what mattered. Additionally, there was a level of fairness (EVERYONE got bonus - even the warehouse folks and the receptionists, since it was made clear we ALL were a team) and transparency (We knew the margin and profitability on every single product we sold. Sometimes even the COGs)

There is still apparently some "legacy" thinking here. I can tell you without reservation -Intervet was a truly fantastic place to work and many of us planned to retire from the company.

I am making no judgment or comment on SP or Merck, but I am proud and thankful to have worked at Intervet.

Worst thing SP and Merck did was get rid of all of Intervet's top management.

I'm curious as to whom you reference when you say 'Intervet's top management'? Not to offend, but those guys were widely regarded as the ultimate old boys club, with a lot of cya going on at that level. Great guys to hang out with at the bar, but that is about as far as it goes.

Yes, there absolutely was some "good old boy" going on. Intervet bought HR Vet and that's where the fraternity began. No question some of that was very tight and some lame people stayed employed when they had no business being so.

I worked under both CR and SH, one from HR and one not. VERY different people with enormously different leadership styles and initially I was not a fan of one of them. But bottom line - they brought teams together and instilled a huge sense of pride and camaraderie. I've certainly never experienced that elsewhere in animal health.
