I disagree. I did ok on Pennsaid (over 100%) and really sucked at Exalgo (less than 10%). My goals for both products are third highest in my district and more than that of several members who hit goal in both products. My goals are actually higher than a teammate who hit 300% in Pennsaid and 100% in Exalgo, and our goals were about the same at launch. Doesn't make any sense.

Are you in the West region? That is the land of PIPs. And from what I was told by legacy reps, no one has ever successfully made it through a PIP. They either resigned or was let go.

Is this because of the regional director or the DM?

Previous poster is right, "thanks for wasting my time Covidien".

They hired the "best" and now treat us terribly. They know just how to do it below the radar and make up accusations.

I go to work every day with a knot in my stomach. If you're lucky to be around 100% you are safe, anything less, you are looked at. They are letting reps go with years of experience, NO ONE is safe.

Don't kid yourself, this is a HOSTILE work environment.

on average my teams goals were increased 5 times over... no one is at a 100% down here!

What's going on at Covidien is going on everywhere in the industry. It is horrible, but for your own piece of mind, you are not alone. From forecasting, setting and adjusting sales goals to the company's leverage of putting reps on PIPs. Its not going away, in fact, like most have mentioned becoming common-place.

The pools of potential candidates for your sales jobs is huge in every sales district. the good news is- there is life after pharma...if in fact the road ends for those put on PIPs. The stinger is that the perks are not there in other sales opportunities. Hey, do everything that you can to stay afloat...unemployment really sucks. Consider yourself very fortunate if you can roll yourself into another pharma opportunity, the marketplace is very tight.

This is RD driven, and the DM has no choice but to go along. The west area is truly the land of PIPS.

Shit! I was just put on a pip today, right after December number were posted! My numbers 6 months after launch were decent, over 100% both products, but my goals unrealistically increased tenfold! WTF is up with that?!

When looking at the rank report, it is obvious that the goal setting was done by a bunch of monkeys. Areas that did very well in the launch period were not given appropriate goals, and others who did poorly were rewarded with obtainable goals, the previous poster who mentioned this is right.

The DMs get to hand pick who should be on a PIP! If I'm not mistaken, there was a certain exec who mentioned post launch at a manager meeting that each district should have one rep on a PIP, or at least a candidate for one. This keeps the "teams on their toes". WTF is this mentality?! And this empowers the DMs to go after reps that don't mesh with their management style (i.e. doesn't kiss ass), even if numbers are decent. I knew of one district who had 3 reps on PIPs at the same time last quarter. The DM was out on a f%$king witch hunt.

Nope, my territory did poorly during launch, and I have the second highest increase in goals on my team, which means my territory still continues to do poorly. PIP, here I come.

But yes, I do agree that the goal setting was done by a bunch of monkeys.

I'm in a similar situation. I met my PS goal during launch, but missed the mark with EX (significantly). But my new goals went up by over 300% and 110% respectively, and the new reporting system lost about 25% and 50% of my business. This is so discouraging. The saddest part of all, is that I continue to bust my ass every day. Jokes on me I guess.

Word to the wise...this company has recently let go MANY legacy reps....look at your little "fancy" blue book mailed to you months ago and then try to email 1/3 of those reps are GONE.
This company has become a plethora of ex Johnson and Johnson mis-management that was redirected to Covidien.
DO NOT TRUST any ex-Janssen (aka Johnson) ex-patriots.....they have taken over Covidien...
What they don't realize is big brother is watching and employees do have the WAYS AND MEANS to taken them down....
