Millennium reps and management are bad mouthing and trying to discredit a new model in the marketplace allowing treatment centers to own part of the lab. After I told them about the model, they told me how illegal it was and the lab was not reputable. Well, after a ton of investigation on my part and my attorney, I found the model is, in fact, legal. And the lab is completely legit. So I'm leaving Millennium along with a few of my buddies to join this new model and now will get a nice piece of revenue monthly instead of the idiots at Millennium. I don't think they know bad mouthing and trying to discredit your competition makes them look like asses. Oh well. They will lose millions on my account now. Bite me Millennium.....

If this is legal and "completely legit" then by all means, post your name and the name of your new company. We certainly will see. My guess is that you won't.

Since this new has already taken some very large accounts from Millennium in both FL, TX, and CA with more getting ready to make the move, nothing more needs to be said. This model is making noise across the country and will continue to do so as Millennium has been gouging their customers for year. We are making the move.

Watch the videos and learn about compliance and self referral. Any legal opinion can be bought, until you are investigated and indicted.

When all else fails, call it illegal and be a slanderer. Just like liberals calling conservatives racists whenever they realize they've been beaten.

    This is hilarious! It's compliance 101: Self-Referrals

At least it will provide entertainment to watch it go down. The sad thing is though, that when one "lab" gets scrutiny, we all do. It's bad for the industry. I'm not being a hater but seriously, the earlier post was right so many attorneys will give you an opinion of what you want to hear and then hang you out to dry when it hits the fan.

To be safe, you should contact the OIG for an Advisory Opinion...before your competition does.

What if the treatment center in NOT owned by a doc?

Self referral is illegal and everyone knows that. If a treatment center owns part of a lab and sends all of its samples to the lab, then that is illegal. Your attorney, whoever they are, is stealing your money...

just a matter of time, before the truth comes out..

    http://medcitynews.com/2014/09/diagnostics-lab-anti-kickback-scrutiny-wsj-report/

Virginia-based Health Diagnostic Laboratory may be testing the delicate waters of the country’s anti-kickback laws, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The fast-growing lab tests for biomarkers that point to heart disease – but its practice of incentivizing physicians to use its diagnostic tests is a touch suspect, the government says.

This smacks of a related story – one in which San Diego’s fast-growing Millennium Laboratories found itself enmeshed in a (still ongoing) grand jury trial. Though Millennium – a urine drug analysis company – remains mum on its revenues, since its own 2008 start it’s expanded into a sprawling complex that employs more than 1,300. And it, too, faced accusations of physician kickbacks and Medicare fraud, according to a 2012 Reuters investigation. Little has been revealed since about the status of the grand jury trial.

Physicians are able to invest in other ventures and self refer up to 40% of their business in that venture as long as it is not a federal / state program patient (i.e.Medicare/Medicaid). Many physicians are stake holders in surgery centers and physical therapy locations. In the lab space - this is not much different than running their own lab in their own practice. The problem with your example is that they are sending all of the urines to their lab - that is not cool.
