There always seems to be openings in the NE. From what I have been told....most reps don't last more than 6 to 12 months. It burns you out. Sure, some reps can make over 200 K. But it's short lived. It seems like this gig may be good for a quick buck if you're in your Mid 20's. Nobody last too long.

    This just in....

    http://www.kpbs.org/news/2014/aug/05/medicare-pays-labs-top-dollars-san-diego-county/

Clinical laboratories were among the top San Diego County recipients of Medicare reimbursements in 2012, according to an inewsource analysis of national reimbursement data.

Four labs were in the top 10, including locally headquartered Millennium Laboratories of California, which made headlines in Florida recently when a jury hit the company with a $15 million judgment in a lawsuit alleging unfair competition.

.....Millennium was San Diego County’s largest recipient of Medicare reimbursements in 2012, according to data released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in April. The company received at least $190 million in payments for performing nearly 8.7 million services.

and what did that federal jury decide? that Millennium violated anti-kickback laws? uh-oh

Anyone know what CPT codes they use to bill their genetic testing for pain patients? I am a concerned patient that doesn't want to get stuck with a bill.

ok, I am in KC and my biggest guy just said he threw out a rep and his new manager the other day from a smaller lab in kentucky, but does not remember the name. He said the manager tried to tell him that he did not know how to treat his patients right and he was doing everything wrong. I would love to know who that was because he needs to be slapped around a little bit. I know he is dark hair and has a belly like santa (that is doctors remarks) and looks like he has not seen a dentist ever. We do not need any kind of crap like this with our industry as it is.

I am a patient whom has taken two of the millennium drug test. I paid the first one that was $91.00 dollars in 2013 that is after insurance. and now I have received my second one. I was comparing both of my bills.I was charged for 7 units for chromatography twice for barbiturates urine creatinine, charged five times for opiates, body fluid NOS ect..... the total for a drug test is 1407.23 thank goodness i have insurance, but i still have to pay 200 for the test and which my insurance will probably go up. Lucky me! What are all the charges for? How can you get out of paying for all the ridiculous charges?

You need to report them to the Insurance Commissioner in your State. They are there to fight for you. This is not appropriate billing.

Thanks so much. I live in Ms and my dr is in Tn. Which state would I report to? I have been talking to some of my family member and they also have had this company charge ridiculous prices for drug test. My mother in laws bill was 6800 and this is after the insurance payed. How is anyone going to be able to pay that kind of bill and then your insurance goes up.
Is this not against the law?

Report them in both States. One thing I would do is meet with the Doctor and Office Manager. Show them your bills you are getting from this lab. They choose which lab that will preform their tests. Chances are, they have no idea this is happening to their patients. Tell the Office that you will change doctors over this issue, the last thing they want is to loose patients over a lab bill, which they make nothing on. Let us know what doctor this is and I will send a Sales rep in. Millennium is on the Radar with the OIG and they are giving the industry a black eye. It's all about Greed!

How much do the reps make per cup? Is it a percentage or flat fee?

Actually it may be correct billing. Until Jan 1 2015 there were no "drug specific codes". Therefore, if a doctor tests for 5 drugs that do not have drug specific codes but they are all in that class of drug you may see the same "code" show up on your bill when it is not the same test.

You are obviously not a coding pro or working for those correctly billing. I'd bet you do one or two tests and bill for 20.

i don't know much about this company, but you obviously aren't reading your bill right. it isn't about greed, it's about drug class. the reason you could have been charged for 5 opiates is that you got tested for 5 different opiates. if you don't know anything about billing, maybe try calling their billing department to ask.

LOL you should read up on coding yourself, because they are right! if a drug falls in the same drug class, you can see the same code. With the 2015 coding it's a bit different, but unless you understand the difference between drug class specificity...you probably wouldn't understand
