Heck, I saw the ad for the movie.

I thought it was a documentary; just was suprised the directors didn't hire me as a consultant.

Prevention is the key. Once there, if they are really bad, the narcissistic behavior keeps them there. Go figure?

I had been in the pharmaceutical industry for several years and I had yet to see a true leader. Most pharmaceutical managers, while they many have a MBA, do not have any idea regarding the true aspects of leadership. Either they were fast tracked into management because of their looks/image, or they knew the right person, but in many cases they were unprepared to lead.

In order to filter out the bad from the good, such things as emotional and moral intelligence need to be considered; not whether they have a MBA. In fact, a MBA is mostly a waste unless one is going into the finance or investment banking. Most pharmaceutical managers see representatives as things that are to be managed. People are meant to be led, not managed. Leaders lead people, managers manage things.

Besides the things mentioned previously, servant, transformational, and virtuous leadership are models badly needed in the pharmaceutical industry. Trust the people in your team and those you serve, and offer compassion and forgiveness when they fall short because, believe me, everyone does - even pharmaceutical managers.

No they are wacked out idiots who could not manage there way out of a phone booth.
They lie like a rug and tell you anything and everything to get you to work. This is the way they motivate people.

A horrible boss is only as bad as his worst employee. Remember that.

I am in specialty neurology sales. My company has no management training program. Many reps move into management with no experience.

This is one of many reasons for high turnover. If you are inexperienced, no one will want to work for you.
