My old manager used to have someone picked out for a position (Merck), and then still conduct interviews with people that had no shot to get the job.

I guess this is another reason the stink of this industry has reached to the highest heaven.

Hence, I do not even bother to show up for scheduled interviews. It is not worth the time and money to play "tell me a time when?". My favorite from the DM, "I am looking for someone that can sell." Major issue. Pharma is not sales it is marketing and public relations.

I have left more than one D.M. gazing into their coffee cup and playing with their phone as they await the next interview. i give, you win. Uncle!

For the last two years I have been the over 50, white guy quota check for EOEE. Find a new dolt I got tired and gave up. Good for me.

Good for you is right. It gets worse as you get older, and Mr. DM becomes younger.

Reminds me of that line from the Great Gatsby, when Nick tells Gatsby, "they are a rotten bunch...and you are better than a bunch of them put together".

Well, the quote goes something like that.

    How did you find out?

Also, watch for the lying AFTER you get the job. They will lie about why the previous rep "left", when the truth was the manager was a DICK, or they got screwed out of bonus.

Profanity is a sign of low IQ. It is used as a tool to compensate for the shortfall.

Marv Levy, a Yale doctorate, was known as the most profane coach in NFL history.

My guess is you are a state school idiot, who thinks working in the pharma. industry is making it big.

    FU TOO!

Levy went to Harvard, but we get your point.

Profanity is not good, but lying is much, much, much, much, much, much, much worse.

Managers that lie on interviews are terrible human beings.

Quintiles is also known for doing that - interviewing people - after a job offer has already been given to another person.

Time to dig in a come up with a lawsuit versus these companies.

There are a lot of big mouths in this industry, so, it should not be hard to get them on this.

Nearly impossible. The practice is large and wide. I have been told by senior executives they have to play the hiring game too. That means all ages and colors to arrive at 24, brownish, dumb and scares easily for the three years of planned longevity.

They do not want the you / I circa 2014 they wanted us Circa 1990. Times change and so do industries. Not butt hurt on my part. Glad to be out.
