Breaking In

    So, what advice would you give someone wanting to break into clinical research coming from pharma sales management? Anything specific that would help to show the competency skills are there just need to learn to apply the new skill set of monitoring and all ich guidelines, etc for accurate f/u.

    Any info you can share would be appreciated and helpful. I'm sure this has happened before...somewhere, right?

    That is exactly what I am attempting to do. I have a pharma sales background and recently completed a graduate program that focuses on clinical research and regulatory practices. It has been VERY challenging. I'm still looking! I have pharma sales rep friends who lied on their resume and were able to get positions with a lot of manipulation. I decided to go the truthful route. Good luck!

    many cro's have entry level account devlopers, whcih is realy an inside sales position.
    Find one and jump on it. You will learn the business from that role and woithin a year, there will be an opening as there isa great deal of turnover.

    Did you get a graduate degree in some sort of clinical science or a did you follow a certificate track? I am interested in going this route as pharma sales is slowly beating me down to a pulp. I've seen the online certificate programs from some pretty prestigious schools, I am wondering if they're worth doing the 5 or 6 courses to get a certificate?

    Don't waste your money on expensive programs. Work is being outsourced offshore like crazy in this industry, RBM is kicking in and jobs are going to dwindle in the next few years. Besides, certificates don't get you in the door to a high paying job in this field. They want experience, some CROs offer training but it isn't frequent.
